A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE BROTHERHOOD OF GRAND LODGES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA FOR ORGANIZING THE FIRST JOINT ST. JOHN’S DAY PROGRAM.
Whereas, with the aim and grand design of freemasonry and to promote unity and espirit through the benevolent ideals of friendship, fellowship, and fraternity, the Grand Masters of B’Natural Grand Lodge, Modern Free and Accepted Masons; King Soloman Grand Lodge, International Free and Accepted Masons; Palmetto Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Ancient York Rite Masons; and Williams Grand Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons for almost a year have worked toward establishing a Brotherhood of Grand Lodges among the State’s four African American Grand Lodges; and
Whereas, the Grand Masters have always noticed that their members worship together, work together, meet each other through civic organizations, but have never fellowshipped together on the Masonic level; and
Whereas, to promote unity among the Grand Lodges, the members of each Grand Lodge have agreed to acknowledge the existence of one another and share their resources to establish a joint project to promote cooperation, respect, fellowship, trust, and to extend the right hand of fraternal courtesies among the members of the four Grand Lodges during their first annual St. John’s Day Program on June 13, 1999, at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, South Carolina; and
Whereas, June 13, 1999, will be a historic day in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly want to take this opportunity to congratulate and commend the Brotherhood of Grand Lodges of the State of South Carolina for organizing the first joint St. John’s Day Program. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend and congratulate the members of the Brotherhood of Grand Lodges of the State of South Carolina for organizing the first joint St. John’s Day Program and extend best wishes to each member as they fellowship on June 13, 1999, at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be presented to the Grand Masters of B’Natural Grand Lodge, Modern Free and Accepted Masons; King Solomon Grand Lodge, International Free and Accepted Masons; Palmetto Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Ancient York Rite Masons; and Williams Grand Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons.
