REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

To School Architectural Firms:

The Byron School District is seeking proposals for professional services to provide comprehensive educational facility analysis, programming and planning for the Byron District.

Interested firms should submit 10 copies of a written proposal to: Dr. Wendy S. Shannon, Byron Public Schools, 501 10th Ave. NE, Byron MN 55920. Any questions should be directed to Dr. Wendy S. Shannon, 507-775-2383.

ISD #531 serves approximately 1460 students, grades PK-12. Total building footage is approximately 252,615 square feet. There are three school buildings in our district:

·  PK-4 Byron Elementary School 577 Students

·  5-7 Byron Middle School 347 Students

·  8-12 Byron High School 539 Students

ISD #531 is requesting assistance with educational facility analysis, programming, and planning services. At this time, we have prioritized our needs as follows:

·  Possible expansion of elementary site (presently PK-4)

·  Space needs Middle School (5-7)

·  Need to consider a new school building facility, possibly a middle school on the present elementary school property, grades 5-7 or 5-8

·  Possible collaborative building projects with the city of Byron

ISD #531 will accept proposals until 11:00 a.m. on October 24, 2001. A select number of applicants will be invited to interview in early November 2001.

The proposals shall include the following:

  1. Background and organization – identify name, address and description of the firm.
  2. Identify the firm’s educational facility analysis and design experience in the last 3-5 years. Include detailed descriptions of representative studies and projects. Emphasize the firm’s experience in handling school district facility studies.
  3. Identify staff members who will be providing services to ISD #531. Please state their relevant training, degree, and/or area of specialty, a description of their prior experience in school district work, and other background or experience which may be helpful in evaluating your proposal.
  4. Briefly describe your firm’s educational facility analysis process.
  5. Provide a description of your project approach.
  6. Discuss what distinguishes your firm from others that might be considered for this project.
  7. Identify in-house disciplines.
  8. Define your knowledge and experience in educational technology planning and design.
  9. Describe the services you will provide to assist the School District with a bond referendum.
  10. Include information regarding your ability to evaluate and assist the district with all ADA requirements and building code compliance.
  11. List names and telephone numbers of five client references whom ISD #531 may contact concerning your work in the area of school district facility study and analysis.
