To some degree - While the content is based on the content specifications for ITBS and ITED, the emphasis is on knowledge and skills best measured with an open-ended format. Student construct answers rather than select them, a variety of approaches can be used to correctly solve problems; many of the questions have more than one acceptable answer; and multiple modes of written communication can be used to answer questions.

Content is based on the content specifications for ITBS and ITED, but it is more restricted. High school testing is not dependent on content of class completed

Types of Questions:

Format is open-ended – sometimes single words, sentences, or numbers - but some request longer response. When scoring, sometimes the processis examined. Scoring is done locally, but need teams to score.

Scoring is local. There is an extensive manual for scoring and professional development for scoring. Iowa Testing Program will work with districts to develop reporting forms.
