POSITION DESCRIPTION

DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES

Position Purpose:

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta strengthens its region by providing quality services to donors and innovative leadership on community issues.

The Human Resources Director is responsible for enabling the Foundation to practice organizational excellence in the areas of talent management, change management, and benefit and compensation administration. This also includes ensuring that the Foundation is compliant with current and changing employment laws and trends.

Essential functions of Position:

1.  Strategic leadership - work with management team (senior staff) to develop and assist with strategies that will provide best in class organizational effectiveness and overall performance.

2.  Recruitment and selection – work with management team to ensure hiring and change management processes are being met by guiding management through the process. Also responsible for new hire onboarding process.

3.  Employee advocate – by maintaining practices that ensure safe workplaces, employee development, and maintaining an open communication for problem resolution.

4.  HR Policies and procedures – review policies annually, ensure consistent understanding and implementation across employees and departments, and aid in the effective administration and enforcement of such policies.

5.  Payroll oversight and benefit administration - work as a team with the Controller and our payroll service provider to process payroll and benefit payments. Confidential file management - maintain organized and confidential personnel files. Oversee all 1099 and W-2 filings and ensure regulatory compliance.

6.  Compensation and benefits programs – annual review of compensation and benefits and recommendations for changes and raises that are appropriate for review by our Board of Directors. Management of benefits including annual review of our benefit program, reenrollment process, renegotiating benefits and managing related budget items. Enroll/process staff enrollment and changes for parking, various insurance benefits, etc. Also includes review and approval of annual holiday schedule. Every three years an external compensation review for all of our positions is conducted.

7.  Annual performance review process – Drive this process with the senior team membersincluding update of job descriptions and review for compliance with exempt/non-exempt status.

8.  Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment law – to ensure organizational compliance.

9.  Member of the Resource Deployment Team and Marketing/Communications Team– representing the human resource function on these cross functional teams and facilitating monthly team lead team meetings and supporting the team leads thoughout the year.

Responsibility Level

The director of human resources reports to the President of the Foundation regarding confidential functional HR matters. The position also reports to the V.P. of Community and two team leads for the Resource Deployment Team.

Strategic leadership – level of employee engagement and the results obtained by the organization

Talent management – the quality of the new hires, success in role and the retention our our talent

Employee advocacy – the number of employee complaints and complaints that are unresolved that result in legal exposure for the Foundation.

HR Policies and procedures – oversight for application of policies being consistent to ensure fair treatment for all employees.

Payroll oversight and compensation & benefit processing – Employee retention and satisfaction with total compensation

Regulatory compliance – Miminize legal exposure for the Foundation

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Experience: At least 8-10 years of HR experience.

Education:

Education: Bachelors Degree in human resources, business or related field or equivalent experience. PHR or SPHR or Master degree in HR preferred.

Skills:
