B / Job Outline / To undertake, individually or as part of a team, the cleaning of designated areas and associated accommodation to ensure they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition in accordance with the high standards set by Bloxham School whilst ensuring a safe, comfortable environment at all times.

D / Job Description / Duties include;
While working in the boarding houses you will:-Clean the pupils’ dormitories, Study bedrooms,
Day studies, Social areas, undertaking duties such as carpet cleaning etc.
  • You will be required to use powered equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, carpet shampooers etc where required.
  • Clean all bathrooms and toilets
  • Clean kitchen including the floor, worktops, white goods, and bins inside and out, all to be regularly cleaned and check dates on food.
  • Daily wiping of desks and fronts drawers and wardrobes.
  • Hoover floors of bedrooms, corridors and shared common rooms.
  • High and low level dusting
  • Remove marks from walls
  • Tidy cables and controls for all TV’s, DVD’s and entertainment machines general tidying.
  • You could be asked to move from one area in the school to another at any time, to include areas of the main school, classrooms, changing rooms, halls, social areas etc.
  • Other work will be allocated as directed by the Domestic Manager and Domestic Supervisor.
  • Use equipment and consumables as directed by the domestic manager.
  • Manage stock levels with domestic manager and request new items as required.
  • A house matron may direct you to a particular area of work in the case of an emergency or priority. Should this affect your other duties you must inform your domestic manager / supervisor and they will liaise directly with the matron.

E / Qualifications/ Skills/ Experience / Essential:
  • Have a warm and sympathetic personality
  • Have a ‘can-do’, proactive attitude
  • Be able to use own initiative
  • To be a good team player but to also be able to work on your own.
  • Be willing to attend training courses, as appropriate
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise, planning own workload to fit around the needs of the House/floor
Desirable:
  • Have experience of working within a school

F / Working Hours /

Hours of work – 5 hours a day (25 hours a week)

You will be contracted to work 5am to 10am each day during term time for the fixed term period, Monday to Friday (the time and hours may vary at times and you will be required to work additional hours when requested). You will also be asked to work some Saturdays and Sundays to meet the needs of the business but you will be given notice of these times.
G / Salary and Conditions / Hourly rate: £8:33
25 days pro rata paid holiday plus bank holidays, however you may be required to work on a bank holiday and, if so, you will receive the correct remuneration for these days.
Use of the sports facilities
Enhanced DBS Check required.
The post holder’s responsibility will include promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact. The post holder will be expected to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the Headmaster in his capacity as the School’s Child Protection Officer.
