Start of Meeting – 5:25PM
- Update on compost bins
- Have the bins for cardboard
- Need to get more bins for the food because original grant fell through
- Rep from PSC – Andrea Antell
- A for profit group – provide a service for money
- Want to bring the e-waster recycling program to give back to the community and their corporate partners
- Program Benefits
- Public awareness and education
- Increase recycling and recovery of e-waste (keep out of landfills)
- Generate proceeds to further promote sustainability
- Contribute to the university community
- PSC Capabilities
- Company strength and size – have experience working with public and private institutions
- Have waste management resources

- Collection hours 9-2
- Major participants
- PSC, Tx State, AERC, Home depot
- For students, faculty, and staff – university waste must be processed though the warehouse
- City of San Marcos – also interested in funding the drop
- Goal: collection of wide range of e-waste
- Not appliances, lamps,
- Anything w/ a circuit board and/or battery
- Recycling Highlights
- Parterning with AERC/ Com-cycle in Houston
- U.S. only de-manufacture and recycling
- Comply w/ BASEL, EPA, NAID regs
- No landfill
- PSC & AERC roles
- Complete program management – notification permits, police, etc…
- Event logistics
- Volunteer supervision
- Collection, packaging, and transportation of materials
- Recycling
- Tx State responsibilities
- University
- Location and logistical support
- Event clean up
- Resources: forklifts, etc
- Donation and/or student gratuity – food, t-shirts, etc to feed volunteers

- Need $10,000 in donations or in-kind commodities to pull this off
- Proceeds will come back to the campus
- Possible change of date?
- There already a lot of events occurring in San Marcos on that day
- Most green kids are busy that day
- What about dorm move out?
- PSC - Need 50 volunteers servicing 500 vehicles
- Will also have an earth day festival showcasing their sponsors
- Advertising – PSC will work with a student/faculty group for making contact
- Locations – Houston, Pharr, Buda, El Paso, Avalon/Dallas
- UT and A&M – have not done this, so we could be the first
- Consideration of PSC proposal
- Earth day is a good day to do it because people will already be here
- Advertise is sufficiently
- Geography alumni reunion on the same day – advertise to them
- Money collected will come back to the university
- A lot of organization is needed
- Print services, port-a-potties, HEB, dumpsters, advertising, volunteers, etc…
- Maybe give $5000, they said they would take less
- City of San Marcos – interested in helping but cannot provide funding – advertising, man hours, etc.
- Maybe have a white waste disposal on the same day
- Need to initiate a We Cycle program
- Proposal for common experience for 2011 – sustainability

- Need application to provide money for lunch
- Mary Waters wants money from ESC for Earth Day Event
