MEET INFORMATION

Eligibility: Swimmers will be eligible to swim in Junior Swim Circuit meets:

a)That as of September 1, 2015, Junior Circuit meets are novice developmental level meets. MQT qualifying will serve as the de-qualifying time for Junior Circuit participation.

b)The focus age for the Junior Circuit is 12 & Under. However, we do understand that there will be some cases where 13 and overs swimmers are truly novice. Please use coach discretion when entering 13 and over swimmers. We welcome the continued participation of the Dolphin Swim Club and Para identified swimmers.

c)They are currently a registered competitive swimmer with a year round program designated to the Southern Region of Swim Alberta.

d)Swimmers who are registered as non-competitive can enter and compete in ONE sanctioned competition per swim season.If they wish to enter any additional competitions they must be upgraded by the registrar, an invoice created, and paid prior to them swimming at the meet. If a swimmer competes a second (or more times) without being upgraded then the club is invoiced $100.00 per swimmer per meet.

Entries:

Swimmers are limited to a maximum of four (4) individual swims. Meet management reserves the right to limit individual swims to 3 events pending appropriate session time outs. Entries are to be submitted using Hytek through Swimming Canada.

200 and 400 freestyle events can be run at the home club as a Time Trial the week of the Junior Circuit Meet. 200 & 400m Results are to be submitted to the host club before the start of the meet. The only exception for this will be Spring Fling where both the 200 Free and 400 Free will be events in the meet.

Relays:

Teams can submit relay entries without names. No names or order will be required by Meet Management. Meet management reserves the right to limit team relays such that the meet runs within a reasonable period. Coaches please use discretion when entering relays.

Age Groups/Seeding/Sessions:

The meets will run as two sessions, 9 & Under and 15 & Under. However, if the session 1 or session 2 look like they will time out too fast, meet management may combine the two sessions. Coaches may enter 9 and under swimmers in the 15 & under session. The results will be posted as single age 7 & Under, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & Over.

Events will be swam as mixed gender, senior seeded, slow to fast.

Entry Times:

Entry times are required for all entries to facilitate timing of the meet by the meet manager as well as a dequalifying check. “NO Time”s will not be accepted. Coaches are to estimate a time for a swimmer or use the times below.

25 metres races / 39.99
50 metre races / 1:19.99
100 metre races / 2:19.99
200 metre races / 4:40.99

Ribbons:

Ribbons will be awarded for all Best Times and Great Swim.

Entry Fees:

Effective September 1, 2015, entry fees will be $30.00 per participant of the meet, with the exception of the May meet. For the May meet only entry fees will be equal to the current Swim Alberta fees for timed final events ($7.50) and relays ($9.25). Olympic Bonus is included in your entry fee.

Scratches:

A scratch sheet, complete with the name of the club, the name of the swimmer and the event number(s), must be handed to the Clerk of Course no later than 30 minutes before the start of the meet.

Entry Deadline:

The entry deadline is 6:00 PM on Monday March 28,2016

Scratch Deadline:

The deadline for scratches for refund of entry fees is 6:00 PM Monday April 4th. Scratches made after the scratch deadline will not be eligible for refund and the attending club will be responsible for the fees. For scratches on the day of the meet, a scratch sheet, complete with the name of the club, the name of the swimmer and the event number(s), must be handed to the Clerk of Course no later than 30 minutes before the start of the meet.

Sessions:

The meet will be run in 2 session. Every effort will be made to limit the session to about 4 hours.Warm-ups will start at 1:00pm (9 & under) with session 1 starting at 1:25pm. Warm-ups for Session 2 (15 & under) will start at 3:30pm and the meet will start at 03:50pm. (The 15 & under start time may change as the entries are accepted ).

Relays:

Every effort should be made to submit the number of relay teams at the entry deadline, even if names are not confirmed. Any changes to the relays or swimmers need to be submitted to the Clerk of Course no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.

Scoring:

There will be no scoring at the Junior Swim Circuit Meets.

Rules:

The One Start rule will be used at all Junior Swim Circuit Meets. All other SCN RULES MUST BE ADHERED TO. One of the primary goals of the Junior Swim Circuit is to provide a positive learning experience for developing swimmers and officials.

Sanction:

Sanction has been applied for to Swim Alberta through the Swimming Canada website

Payment must be received prior to meet.

Heat Sheets and Results:

Each guest club will receive three copies of the heat sheets.All results will be posted at the meet and will be submitted to swimming.ca immediately following the meet.

Cancellation of Events:

After timing out the meet it may be necessary to cancel some events to avoid having the meet run too long. Every effort should be made to try and swim all events. Mixed gender events are permitted at meets to adhere to the four hour timeline.

Warm-ups:

Lane assignment for each club makes the warm-up more organized. No diving is allowed except for the last 15 minutes of warm-up. The diving (off the blocks) should be in assigned lanes where there will be one way swimming only. Warm-up procedures to be posted by the Meet Manager before the start.

Officials:

We will need volunteers and officials to make the meet a success. The CWC will provide the majority of the officials and our CWC Swim Club Officials Coordinator (Lisa Siemens) will contact attending club coordinators to request officials and volunteers. You may also contact Lisa directly .

Concession:

Food and beverages will be available at the CWC cafeteria.

All food is prohibited on deck and glass containers are prohibited on deck.

The management of the Winter Club considers any food in the water as a contamination and will close the pool for 24hours and super chlorinate it as per the Health Departments requirements.

Please ensure your swimmers keep their area tidy during and after each session.

Parking:

Due to the large number of participantsand regular scheduled programs, parking is not available. Parking attendants will be checking for membership cards and non-members will be asked to park off site in the neighboring community. Clubs are encouraged to car pool to minimize the impact on the community. Swimmers can also be dropped off at the front entrance. Parking passes will be made available for coaches where possible.

NOTE: The Calgary Winter Club is a private club and we request that you ask your swimmers and parents/guardians to use the dedicated areas only. There are stands for parents to view the swimmers. The rest of the club including the second pool is off limits.

Lockers and towels are for the membership of the Winter Club only. Athletes should bring all their belongings on deck with them.
