Job Description

The Reinsurance Claims Manager will assist in the leadership of a group of 15 individuals in the Specialty Operations Reinsurance Claim unit handling asbestos, pollution, and other run-off claims. To plan, organize, develop, direct and evaluate the activities of the unit. To manage and evaluate the performance of departmental claim activities including adherence to established policy and procedure. To develop and implement training programs for the claim technical staff. To assist the Specialty Operation's Leadership Group with the achievement of Special Operation's strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

·  Identify departmental training needs and develop training programs

·  Evaluate employee potential and recommend employee promotions and merit increases

·  Participate in the development of plans and strategies to achieve division goals

·  Work with legal counsel and arbiters on arbitrations involving disputed matters

·  Insure the proper handling of complex claims or accounts through supervision of designated claim files, accounts or issues

·  Authorize claim payments or denials

·  Oversee, control and direct the activities of direct reports

·  Assign, participate in, and evaluate ceding company claim audits

·  Assist direct reports with interpreting information, and with understanding, and applying departmental policies or procedures

·  Analyze and review departmental productivity and workloads

·  Administer Progress Development Summaries

·  Assist with reinsurance recovery


Job Qualifications

·  7+ years related experience is required

·  Law Degree a plus

·  Bachelor’s Degree in related field
