The Jan Perry Scholarship Program Policy
The Jan Perry Scholarship was established at Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation in 2002 by Jan and Wirt Perry, longtime Harrisonville residents and supporters of CassRegionalMedicalCenter. Jan was a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary until her passing in 2007. Per Jan’s wishes, her husband continues to provide the funds for the scholarship each year. Below are the criteria for each scholarship as set forth by Mr. Perry.
Criteria for Scholarship for CassRegionalMedicalCenter Employees (Fall cycle):
Cass Regional Medical Center employees who have been accepted by and are registered in an accredited program leading to practical nurse licensure, registered nurse licensure, or a bachelor’s degree in nursing; or certification or a degree inmedical technology, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech-language pathology.
CassRegionalMedicalCenter employees who are attending CassCareerCenter for continuing education in the field of nursing.
Criteria for Scholarship for CassCountyResidents (Spring cycle):
Cass County residents who have been accepted by an accredited program leading to practical nurse licensure, registered nurse licensure, or a bachelor’s degree in nursing; or certification or a degree in medical technology, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech pathology.
One scholarship will be offered in the spring to any CassCounty resident. The opening date of the scholarship applications will be March 1 of each year. The closing date of the scholarship will be in early April of each year. These dates will be announced in area newspapers and through mailings to CassCounty high school counselors.
Another scholarship will be offered in the fall to CassRegionalMedicalCenter employees. The opening date of the scholarship applications will be September 1 of each year. The closing date of the scholarship will be September 30 of each year. The scholarship will be awarded each year on or around October 9, which was Jan Perry’s birthday. These dates will be announced in hospital bulletin boards and in Cass Regional’s employee newsletter.
Selection will be based on financial need and career goals.
Any scholarship funds not properly used by applicant (i.e., for failure to complete course work, or any other reason) shall be refunded to the Foundation.
