Instruction:

Students are expected to be prepared for class each day and participate in class. Being prepared includes, but is not limited to, bringing their notebook, homework portfolio, handouts, and pens/pencils. Participation includes, but is not limited to, answering questions in class either verbally or in writing, contributing to class discussion on the day’s topic of instruction, assuming duties during activities or labs and following teacher directions.

Grades:

Grades will be weighted according to district policy. Major grades will comprise 60% of the average while minor grades will make up 40%.

Late work, make-up work and re-tests will be accepted according to school policy. Note: The deadline for re-taking any failed assignment is three (3) days from when the student was notified of the grade. It will be the student’s responsibility to obtain any missed work due to tardiness or absences.

Supplies needed daily:

Composition Notebook Glue Sticks Colored Pencils

Blue or Black Ink Pens Pencils

Communication:

Communication with my students’ families is important to me. I strive to respond to email or voicemail concerning a student within one business day. I send announcements of upcoming tests, review documents and projects via the Skyward message center or fusion pages. Last year many of the messages were returned due to incorrect email addresses. Please take time to verify that both email addresses and phone numbers are correct with the school so that you don’t miss any important information.

My Conference period is 2nd period every day. If you would like to speak with me in person, please let me know. Additionally, if you would like to set up a phone conference, please email me, and I will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

The use of electronic devices is not permitted during instruction, unless directed to do so by the teacher for educational purposes. Students must not distract themselves or others with messaging, music, games, and so forth during instructional time. The non-permissible use of personal electronics can result in disciplinary action. Students will be allowed to check and send messages or listen to music during passing periods or other non-instructional time.

I look forward to working with you this year!
