PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parent participation is possible in a number of ways. Parents wishing to volunteer to

Parent Meetings and Parent Workshops are scheduled throughout the year and cover a variety of topics including:

•Latino Family Literacy
•Building Blocks of Communication
•How to Read to Your Child
•Exercise and Your Child

Parents are expected to attend two Parent Teacher Conferences yearly to discuss their child’s progress.
Parents may also chose to serve on the Parent Advisory Committee, which provides parents an opportunity to help guide the program and effect changes.
ADMISSIONS POLICIES
AND PROCEDURES
Enrollment in the State Preschool Program is open to any eligible family and is operated in accordance with the provisions of the Americans With Disabilities Act and with the U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, handicap, religion or national origin.
Eligibility is determined by current State Department of Education regulations, based on family size and income. Once families have established that they meet the economic eligibility criteria, children are given an enrollment priority and a ranking number and are placed on a waiting list. All preschool openings are filled from this list.
Enrollment is open to eligible three through five-year-old children, however priority is given to those children who are, or will be four years of age by October 1st and who have met the economic needs criteria.
Holidays
State Preschool Programs follow the school calendar and are CLOSED in observation of the same holidays that the schools observe.
Centers may also be closed for teacher-planning days each year.
