Web 2.0 is the term used to describe the second generation of the World Wide Web that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. Web 2.0 includes open communication with an emphasis on Web-based communities of users, and more open sharing of information. During this session of the workshop we will explore different technology tools that enhance the school counseling program. The goal of this session is for attendees to walk away with tech tools that will aid them in the delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program.

Google Docsand the Comprehensive School Counseling Program

Carrie Jackson and Tiffany Ward, Professional School Counselors

Swansboro Middle School, Swansboro NC

Google Docs is a freeware web-based office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. Google Docs allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users live (Wikipedia.org).

This session will consist of two parts. During the first part of this session the presenters will provide attendees with an overview of Google Docs and provide examples of how they are using Google Docs at the school level to collect information and data. After completing the overview the group will then split into two working groups. Group 1 will consist of individuals who are just beginning to work with Google Doc. Group 2 will focus on pulling data and creating graphs based on information obtained from surveys, questionnaires, etc. in Google Docs.
