Email Subject: Welcome to LSJBA Basketball 2010!
Email Body:
Hi, my name is [Coach Name] and I will be the coach of your son’s basketball team this year. We are going to have a lot of fun, learn a lot about the game of basketball as well as some positive character traits such as teamwork and good sportsmanship. Our goal will be to win each game by focusing on the fundamentals of basketball which are a strong defense, good passing/ball movement, smart shooting and playing for the team instead of the individual. It is important for everyone to know that while winning is the goal our first and highest priority is to develop good basketball skills and learn to play as a team while showing good sportsmanship. Our team’s win/loss record will be one measurement of our success as a team but a more important measurement will be whether or not every single boy on the team has improved their basketball skills and learned some positive character traits.
Each boy will get an equal amount of playing time. All players will play at least 2 quarters (one in each half) and no more than 3. No one can play 4 quarters unless we only have 6 players at the beginning of the game time. I’m looking forward to teaching your son this great game and helping him to become a better player.
It will be very important for all players to attend practices. We will be learning a lot this year and it will be very difficult to become a great team if we can’t practice together on a consistent basis. I highly encourage parent involvement. We will need additional help providing defense for the team when learning our plays. So mom or dad, bring your tennis shoes to practice!
If there are any other email addresses you would like me to add to my distribution list please let me know.
