Nucleus
/ The mayor in town hall: The mayor controls what happens in his city just like the nucleus controls what happens in the cell.
Ribosome

/ College: Colleges train people to carry out different jobs. The ribosomes take the information in the DNA (stored in the nucleus) and create proteins to carry out different jobs.
Chloroplast

/ Farmers: The chloroplast makes food for the cell just like farmers make food for the city.
Mitochondria
/ Power plant: The power plant provides energy for the city, the mitochondria provides energy for the cell.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
/ Factory warehouse: Things for the city are made in the factory warehouse. Things (fats and proteins) for the cell are made in the endoplasmic reticulum
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

Golgi Apparatus
/ Post office: The Golgi prepares proteins to leave the cell just like the post office prepares mail to leave the city
Cell Membrane
/ City walls: The city walls keep good stuff in the city and bad stuff out the city
Cell Wall

/ Extra fortified city wall: This wall provides very rigid structure for the cell making it hard to move.
Vacuole
/ Grocery Store: When the cell needs food or water, it goes to the vacuole just like people go to the super market.
Lysosome
/ Street Sweepers: The street sweepers clean up left over food and waste just like the lysosome.
Cytoplasm
/ The land and the air that fills the entire city
Role in the school / Organelle / Roll in the school / organelle
