CLASS TITLE:SENIOR MUSEUM EDUCATION PROGRAM SPECIALIST

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is professional work developing, organizing and conducting statewide and local museum educational programs for a state museum, researching and writing educational materials for museum programs and conducting lectures and tours.

  • Conducts and supervises statewide and local educational programs; instructs teachers and students in the museum collections and related topics.
  • Conducts workshops, seminars and other educational activities for a large state museum.
  • Assists in editing and copy writing a monthly museum newsletter.
  • Assists in the installation of exhibits for various museum educational programs.
  • Instructs and assists in art workshops and other educational programs as required.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in art, history, anthropology or archaeology and one year of experience in museum education or exhibit design work; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in art, history, anthropology or archaeology.
  • Experience in the restoration of artifacts or in museum education or exhibit design work can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
