Course Objective
To teach level 1 technique for U-Part Wigs, Ventilation/knotting a Lace Wig Closure. This additional education course will enhance stylist skill set, and increase salon profits.

Course Description

Level 1 U-Part Wig Making
Level 1 Introduction to Lace Wig Ventilation/Single Knotting (Lace Wig Closures)
  • Students will learn the technique to create U-Part Wigs with 2 types of Caps
  • Students will learn level 1 technique to ventilate (knot )single knot wig lace
  • Students will create 2 U-Part Wigs
  • Students will create 1 lace wig closure

Course Requirements

This course currently meets all or part of the following requirements for a Urban Girl WigsLevel 1 Instruction Completion:
  1. Availability for 32 hours Course Instruction and Practical Application Hours
  2. Student Supply List of Materials
  3. Urban Girl Wig Making Level 1 Kit

Prerequisites

All students must have prior knowledge and use of the following:
  1. Use of cutting shears (scissors), combs, various brushes used in hairstyling/salon
  2. Use of blow dryers, hair dryers, electric curling and flat irons/Marcel irons
  3. Use of color hair dyes, hair bleaches, relaxers/perms and the like
  4. Use of curling rods, rollers, flexi rods and the like
  5. Use of weaving needle and thread
  6. Use of salon shampoo basin

Student Supplies needed

Student Supply required:
Balled pins, scissors, wig block holder, Styrofoam wig head, and a brown washable marker, seamstress chalk or white eye liner, water bottle, 1 large bottle of bonding glue, blow dryer, 4 bundles of wefted hair (human or synthetic optional), flexible tape measure, weaving needle and thread, chemical application brush, standard hair styling tools

Urban Girl Level 1 Wig Making Kit Required

Urban Girl Wig Course L1 Kit includes : 2 Size 2-3 Ventilating Needle, 2 needle holders, Canvas head wig block, 2 types of practice hair, practice Swiss lace and beginners net, blue duct tape, silk textile.

Level 1 Lace Ventilation Learning Course Outcomes

You will learn the initial technique of ventilating/knotting which is the first step to making lace wigs, lace closures, silk base closures and frontals. The purpose of this course is to lay a strong foundation, and give the fundamentals of ventilation to enable each student to continue on to more advanced aspects of wig making. You will be able to identify different types of ventilating needles and holders, and how to assemble each. You will be able to differentiate between hair types, textures, and the direction of hair cuticles. You will be able to professionally prepare the base for ventilation. You will learn ventilation technique for make single knots. You will learn to create “baby hairs”. You will learn about ventilation density and ventilation directions. You will learn how to bleach and seal knots.You will learn about professional lace adhesives and removal solvents and techniques.You will learn to attach lace to U-Part wigs and 5 techniques to applying U-Part wigs with lace closure.

Level 1 U-Part Wig Making Learning Course Outcomes

You will learn to create a U-Part Wig to worn with or without a lace closure. During this course you will learn how to take client head measurements for customized wig construction. You will learn how to attach hair wefts to 2 types of wig caps. You will learn blend client’s hair with U-Part wig. You will learn how to sew U-Part wig on to clients head (to provide clients with versatility option). You will learn how to attach wig combs to the U-Part wig. You will learn how to measure and cut out U-Part area of wig cap. You will learn how to install U-Part wigs to your clients head behind their hair line or in front of their hairline.

My Teaching Philosophy

The method of teaching philosophy for this wig making course will be overall cognitive and practical. The tasks are designed with respect to licensed cosmetologists who have the practical desire to extend their platform of services to their client/customer base.
With no decline of industry beauty innovations in sight, today’s ambitious cosmetologists endeavor to maintain and run parallel to the latest trends of the beauty industry.

Instructional Methods

This course will have multiple instruction formats that will includeproject based, lecture, demonstration, partnering, group learning, and practical work.

Attendance Policy

This course policy states that regular and punctual class attendance is essential as class will start promptly as planned except in the case of unforeseen events which can impede class or cause cancellation and will be handled according to the measure of the event. No assigned work is excused because of absence, no matter what the cause. Records of class attendance will me maintained. Although no prior notification is necessary, if a student will be absent or late it will be greatly appreciated for the purpose of well being. The instructor will not assume that continued absence from class indicates an official withdrawal until notified by the student in writing.
Class Make Up Policy
If desired, a one on one make up class is available and must be acquired before the next scheduled regular class. Other than a review at the beginning of every class there will be no “re-instruction” on a one to one basis to “catch up”.
Note: there is a cost associated with a One on One make up class.

Academic Misconduct:

**Academic Misconduct –Any act that violates the integrity of the class instruction or physical well being of any party in the class is considered academic misconduct.
Plagiarism: The copying, duplication, photographing, recording, videoing, filming, appropriation, theft, selling, trading or obtaining by any means other than via Urban Girl Wigs is strictly prohibited. The materials provided throughout the course may not be shared or used for any purpose other than as a reference tool for the registered student without approval in writing fromUrban Girl Wigs. Appropriation which includes the quoting or paraphrasing of any material written and published in the manual without giving credit therefore prohibited.

Class Etiquette and Netiquette: Communication Courtesy Code

All members of the class are expected to demonstrate common courtesy in all email messages, threaded discussions and chats. If I deem any of them to be inappropriate or offensive, in person or online/social I will notify the student in writing which will include expectations. Be respectful of other students. Foul discourse will not be tolerated.
