APPROVAL OF AUG 08 MINUTES: A motion was made to approve the minutes as written by Paul Hulgan, seconded by Larry Foster. A vote was held and the members accepted the minutes. Minutes are posted on our AFSA website (CLOSED). www.afsa1075.org
TREASURER REPORT: MSgt Victory Mercedes
Provided the following:
Total Monthly Income – $2289.00
Total Monthly Expenses – $2143.72
Overall Net Total – $145.28
Checking – $935.13
Savings – $4983.02
Total – $5918.15
A motion was made by Larry Foster to accept the treasurer’s report as written, subject to audit; seconded by Paul Hulgan. A vote was taken and the members present accepted the treasurer’s report (CLOSED)
COMMAND CHIEF COMMENTS:
CCMSgt Page announced that 500 Houston, Texas residents would be coming to Randolph due to Hurricane Ike. In addition, he will be retiring next Friday. He will miss the AFSA membership and their involvement within the Randolph Military and Civic Communities.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership Committee: VP Leo Polanco-Sierra
- AFSA will maintain a recruiting booth at Randolph Hispanic Heritage Council Golf Tourney later this month.
- We have recruited 112 new members. A renewed effort is needed to reach our goal of 200 for the year.
Legislative Committee: MSgt Bruce Bebow (absent)
- There is a legislative link for members and further information may be gathered from the Chapter’s website. Make a phone call to Capitol Hill. There is a Hot Line number to talk to your congress person(s), 1(888) 762-8760. When you reach the office a clerk will assist you. Share your concerns with them so they may pass information onto to the Congress person(s). (INFO)
- AFSA Legislative Awareness Week will be celebrated on October 15th at the Base Theater. Our guest speaker will be our International President CMSgt (Ret) John “Doc” McCauslin. We must get the word to the Randolph Community for maximum attendance.
Publicity/Communication Committee: MSgt April White (absent)
- Newsletter recently mailed. Next newsletter cutoff is November 1st. E-mail April with feedback, comments, or suggestions for improvement.

Military Affairs: Andrea Hall (absent)
- Andrea and VP Leo Polanco-Sierra are planning on establishing new continuity folders for each of the executive council positions. (OPEN)
Civic Affairs: De Ann Montelongo
- 29 Aug – VA Hospital visit with 17 volunteers went well.
- Bruce Harder – Adopt-A-Highway scheduled for October 11th. Problems with reporting our program accomplishments were correct at the State level. Someone at their level dropped the ball.

Fundraising: Anthony Smith
- Planning an AFSA Fundraising Golf Tournament on November 14th at Randolph Oaks Golf Course. Volunteer and participants contact
- Retama – Stan Staples – We now only have one large booth outside on “Fifty Cent” nights. There are six selling positions rather than four, and it will be necessary to have at least ten volunteers on those days.
- Planning a Cruise nest year in March or April and will open to the entire base. If you are interested contact Trustee Anthony Smith.

CMSgt (Ret) Staples briefed the International Convention. Many thanks to all the volunteers who worked the hospitality suite and division welcome desk. We raised $1230 in coin sales.
