Dear St. Christopher Graduates, Parents

& Friends of St. Christopher’s School,

Alumni 2009-2010 Gift Giving Campaign

As a member of the Class of 1963, I look back on life in Grant City and St. Christopher’s School with great happiness. In the mid 50s and early 60s when I attended; our school provided us with an excellent education and religious foundation for our future. Can you believe tuition was only $5 a semester? Through its 80 year history the St. Christopher’s Community along with our parents worked hard to provide each of us with this special gift that is still with us.

Today, our “little green school” is brown and serves as the Edward Esposito Community Center. The new school on Lisbon Place was opened in 1967 and consists of 16 classrooms and a gymnasium/auditorium. I have visited the school and am happy to report that much has remained the same. The students are friendly, respectful and working very hard resulting in excellent test scores. A high percentage of graduates continue their education at Catholic high schools some receiving academic scholarships. The only noticeable differences are that the students are no longer taught by Presentation Nuns and our little Sears and Roebuck Church has been replaced with a larger, beautiful one on land that was once our playground. One other big change is the cost of tuition and extra expenses which now runs close to $5000 per student.

The Alumni Association formed by dedicated graduates serves a twofold purpose. The first is to socialize and reconnect with old classmates and we are off to an amazing start. The Alumni Association was also established to assist in fundraising to help make a difference for our school. Today, no private learning institution, whether it be St. Christopher’s or Harvard University, can survive without the financial support of its alumni.

We are asking you to make a commitment to keep St. Christopher a viable learning institution. We realize that everyone’s situation is different; therefore, we are asking you to consider making a contribution from your heart. All donations are greatly appreciated and no contribution is too small.

This is our inaugural gift request providing each of you the opportunity to give back and thank St. Christopher’s School by supporting its wonderful heritage. Thank you for your generosity in advance!

Sincerely,

Larry Egan- Class of ‘63 Edward Curty- Class of ‘63
