Job Requirements
Essential /
- Demonstrable experience of achieving income targets throughtrusts, foundations and statutory sources.
- Some experience of working within a fundraising team or similar environment.
- Experience of using IT software including Microsoft Office and Raisers Edge.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practice and charity law.
- Excellent and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to network at all levels.
- Able to use own initiative to work autonomously and also to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise own workload.
- Excellent interpersonal/team working skills.
- Proactive and motivated with a good work ethic.
- Able to identify opportunities to benefit Brendoncare.
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Tactful and sensitive approach where appropriate.
Desirable /
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in experience.
- Fundraising or marketing qualification/training.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues affecting older people.
- Ability to read through complex information, selecting important points and reaching decisions for an appropriate course of action.
Job Purpose
Responsible for generating income against set targets from charitable trusts, foundations and statutory sources.
Detailed Responsibilities
Relationships
- Works collaboratively with the fundraising team, trustees, Care Centre and Club Division Staff and the central office team.
- Creates and maintains effective relationships with external contacts to include prospective donors, community groups, volunteers and supporters.
Principle duties
- Support the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising Manager to develop, manage and deliver a targeted and strategic programme of trusts and grants fundraising for Brendoncare to secure long-term income.
- Achieve an agreed annual income target.
- Proactively identify, profile and prioritise new opportunities for funding.
- Develop, write and deliver high quality, tailored and persuasive proposals for funding, in line with Brendoncare’s strategic aims.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current supporters and prospective funders, with the view of achieving long term support.
- Ensure that all reporting requirements are met and reports submitted according to agreed schedules and in line with funders criteria.
- Work closely with the finance department to identify accurate costs and full cost recovery for funding proposals and ensure all grants are correctly allocated.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with the relevant staff and volunteers across the organisation, to ensure that funding proposals are developed in line with the vision of Brendoncare.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Brendoncare’s work, in order to develop a compelling case for support for a range of projects.
- Meet with funding contacts and prospects, and make presentations and face-to-face asks as required.
- Monitor performance and provide regular reports to the Fundraising Manager (Major Gifts).
General
- Maintain records of all donor and prospect relationships on Raisers Edge.
- Maintain high standards of donor care and stewardship.
- Ensure compliance with Brendoncare procedures, fundraising law and best practice relating to community, corporate and events fundraising at all times.
- Keep abreast of fundraising activity and trends across the charity community, corporate and events sector.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Brendoncare’s work, in order to develop a compelling case for support for a range of projects and initiatives.
Corporate Responsibilities
- All Brendoncare employees are expected to carry out their duties in accordance with all Brendoncare Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and in accordance with applicable legislation and regulation, in particular the Health & Safety Policy and Risk Assessments.
- All Brendoncare employees have an individual responsibility to ensure that they report to their manager any concerns, big or small, in relation to safeguarding the vulnerable adults in our care from abuse in accordance with Brendoncare’s Safeguarding Policy and/or Whistleblowing Policy.
- Promote Brendoncare’s charitable ethos, act as an ambassador for our services and support fundraising initiatives to maximise voluntary income for our charity.
