REPORTING TO:Marketing and Development Manager

THE INTERNSHIP

The Marketing and Developmentunit is tasked with supporting the Schools and other functions at ITB to realise the strategic objective of significantly expanding and diversifying our student population over the next five years. The target is to achieve 2000 full time equivalents by 2010 of which 700 will be non CAO applicants. In line with our Access mission an additional aim is that this increase will contain a significant proportion of students from categories presently under-represented in third level education.The unit’s essential function is to assist in the development and marketing of learning programmes which will meet the dual objective of meeting our academic mission and making a significant contribution to the cost of running the Institute.

The person(s) appointed will play a pivotal role in the realization of the objectives of the team and its day to day administration. An ability to work effectively with a cross section of academic staff, support functions, external stakeholders and institute management is prerequisite as is a commercial awareness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Marketing and Development Manager, the successful candidate will

be responsible for a range of duties which will include the following:

  • Competitor analysis - review of publications, competitor websites, etc
  • Responsible for the regular updating of the relevant sections of the Institute website
  • Develop communications –mail-shots, press releases, advertising campaigns and photography in conjunction with Ad Agency and members of Marketing and Development Unit
  • Liaise with Design Team regarding brochures, posters, artwork collateral etc
  • Attend tradeshows and exhibitions , assist in the planning of such events, i.e. marketing collateral – trade show posters, adequate supply of brochures and other branded materials
  • Conduct research in conjunction with current student body and ITB stakeholders
  • Assist in the organisation of events in conjunction with Access Officer
  • Develop good working relationships with other ITB departments and cross-functional teams
  • Visits to second level schools in the catchment area
  • Liaise with Local Press
  • Develop a Digital Marketing Strategy for ITB and the LINC
  • Assist in the support of International and Erasmus students
  • Other duties, which will include:
  • General telephone queries/reception
  • Dealing with staff and students
  • Devising and implementing administrative routines
  • Other duties as requested by Line Manager

Occasionally interns may be required to work outside normal office hours and may be required to represent ITB off-campus.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Must have excellent IT skills and familiarity with Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and

Power Point.

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management and the ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
  • Good commercial experience.
  • Ability to work well in teams.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a car, while desirable, is not essential.
  • A keen interest in marketing both traditional and digital.
