October 13, 2005 - Sale of Cleanaway Germany to SULO, the Germany-based waste management group, for A$893 million (£387 million) in cash and the acquisition of AUSDOC, the Melbourne-based information management business, for A$260 million (£112 million) in cash. CEO David Turner said of the deal, “We have taken this opportunity to sell Cleanaway Germany at an attractive price, while at the same time investing part of the proceeds to acquire the higher growth information management business, AUSDOC…..AUSDOC is a high quality business with a leading position in its markets. The acquisition underpins our overall strategy for Recall and continues to develop our information business in Australia.”
September 20, 2005 - Sale of the CHEP USA Reusable Plastic Container (RPC) assets to Gait Packaging Ltd. The sale is effective from 15 October 2005. The value of the net assets at 30 June 2005 was US$23 million. CHEP COO Dave Mezzanotte said: “The sale of the USA RPC assets allows CHEP USA to further dedicate itself to ensuring our pallet and other container customers receive the best value and service available. CHEP USA’s other container businesses will continue to receive the capital necessary to grow and develop.”
June 23, 2005 - Announced switch from UK GAAP to IFRS starting with the balance sheet for the year ending on June 30, 3005. It is anticipated that IFRS will simplify financial reporting. Additionally, reporting will be made in US dollars beginning with the year ending June 30, 2006.
