FUNDRAISER
JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

Reports to: / Fundraising Manager
Purpose:
Enable the organisation to transform the experiences of children and young people; by raising the money to fund all our activities; and raising awareness of the organisation amongst the public.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Play a key role, in supporting the Fundraising Manager in developing and delivering the fundraising and marketing aspects of the organisational strategy and its associated annual action plan.
- Assist in the setting and managing of an annual budget and action plan for all of your fundraising activity which will help to fund the delivery of the strategic outcomes of the organisation.
- Provide high levels of stewardship to all potential and existing supporters and volunteers of SKFF; responding promptly and professionally to all enquiries and supporting them to achieve the best outcome for the organisation.
- Continually identify and follow-up opportunities to raise income and awareness; developing new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which involve organising events.
- Make risk analyses and balance time-cost ratios to focus effort on the most appropriate fundraising activities with the highest chance of success.
- Deliver high level communications at all times from written proposals to public speaking; and use these skills to convert interest in the organisation into support.
- Manage a number of priorities at the same time, working flexibly to achieve deadlines, whilst maintaining effective systems and accurate supporter records.
- Enhance and protect the reputation of SKFFby being an ambassador for the organisation; including using professional judgement to advise when activities are not in the best interests of the organisation.
- Recruit, organise and manage volunteers to carry out various functions
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with SKFF’s five identified groups of stakeholders, in particular engaging with existing and potential funders with a view to maximising income.
- Engage with the NHS and maintain a strong relationship with the hospital and its staff.
- Support the Fundraising Manager to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures in line with legislative and regulatory requirements; and deliver agreed best practice in all fundraising and marketing activities.
- Keep abreast of competitor activities eg by attending sector user group meetings, and actively make recommendations to your line manager.
- Any other duties appropriate to the role and in line with the needs of SKFF
REQUIREMENTS / ESSENTIALS / DESIRABLE
Education & Qualifications / Qualified to HND level or with equivalent relevant professional experience / A degree in a relevant subject (eg marketing, events management, business)
Qualification from IOF/CIM/CIPR or other relevant, recognised professional body
Experience & Knowledge /
- Experience of working within a busy fundraising environment
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising
- A proven track record of achieving targets and growth
- Ability to develop relationships at all levels and evidence of high standards of supporter stewardship
- Coordinating teams of volunteers
- Demonstrable ability to build and sustain networks with supporters
- Demonstrable experience of delivering a range of verbal presentations
- Track record of using a supporter database to ensure high standards of stewardship
- Demonstrable experience of excelling in the planning, management and delivery of a calendar of activity
- Good knowledge and experience of using marketing communications tools including digital
- A good knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements in Scotland
- An understanding of and involvement in delivering organisational strategy
- Evidence of managing budgets in excess of £100k per annum
- Working knowledge of Raisers Edge
- Experience of policy development
