The Pony Club Endurance Championships 2017
Schedule and Entry details.
Thank you all for putting your views forward, although sometimes a little more robustly than I felt was necessary. I have listened to all your comments on the subject and I feel that two things are essential. Firstly that every member must be given a reasonable chance to compete at the championships and secondly that the championships must not run at a loss.
Therefore this year they will be run at two venues amalgamating the scores from both, using the Performance Formula to get the overall result. There will be no Juniors/Seniors. Just a Grassroots, a Novice, an Intermediate and anOpen class for all members between the ages of 8 and 25. We will also hold the champs right at the end of the season thus avoiding clashing with the numerous championships that go on throughout the summer. There will though be a slight increase in the entry fee.
So the Endurance Championships will be held on Sunday 8th October at New Park, Brockenhurst in Hampshire (SO42 7QH) and at the Royalties, East Lindsley, in South Lincolnshire (PE22 7LU). They will both running on the same day over more or less the same distances and the results will be obtained by using the Pony Club Performance Formula. It would be impossible for you to ride at both venues on the same day so I am sure that I don’t need to remind you that you must only ride at one championship venue. Due to the fact that these are both EGB rides and will be run under EGB rules, please note that supervising riders can each only look after two juniors.
Four classes available (juniors and seniors will complete in the same classes)
New Park RufusRoyalties Grassroots 20km 20km Novice 35km 32km Intermediate 45km 40km Open 55km (35+20) 52km (32+20) The Open Class will have a vet gate in the middle.
We all appreciate that the distances for the southern rides are slightly longer than the Northern one, but for this year we have to put up with it.
To Qualify; Horse/rider needed to have successfully completed three rides of the appropriate distance. No qualification is needed for the Grassroots.
To Enter. Chose which Venue you wish to ride at. (New Park or Royalties). Two parts to your entry. As soon as possible, fill in the PC entry form (available on the PC website under Endurance) and send it, along with a copy of your MasterCard, to the Endurance Secretary at PC headquarters with a cheque for £10 made out to The Pony Club. Entries must be received by the 10th Septetember. Go onto the EGB website for details of the appropriate classes. It is essential you do this straight away then we know how many people are coming to the champs. Then enter the EGB ride on line or by post before the closing date (normally two weeks before the competition). Write PC Championship on your entry. All adult supervisors will also need to enter the appropriate ride through EGB but do not have to send a separate entry to Stoneleigh.
Teams. If you wish to make up a branch or area team of 3 to 6 competitors, their names must be notified to the Pony Club official at the ride before the start of the competition.
Maps and Starting Times be sent out to you by the EGB secretary 3 to4 days before the competition.
The Ride. Will be run under EGB rules using the Pony Club Performance Formula to get the results, details found on Page21 of the PC Endurance Rule Book. Then the results of both competitions will be amalgamated together to achieve the overall winners and prizes, rosettes , sasches and medallions will be presented at a later date or sent out by post.
Stabling and accommodation. Details in the EGB schedule.
The future. H Power had kindly offered the use of Euston Park for our Endurance Championships. This is a great venue with a real atmosphere and if a suitable date can be found for 2018 we will look into this more closely.
The EGB Pony Club Points Leagues will now continue until the end of the season and awards will be presented out at the same time as the prizes for the championships.
