1) 10thANNIVERSARY
14th October 2010
After considering a range of ideas it was agreed that the focus should be ‘The Most Significant Development in SW from 1950’. Speakers would be asked for their personal perspectives with views about relationships with and between national and local governments. The list of possible speakers:
Phyllida Parsloe or Olive Stevenson
Denise Platt
Tony Hall or Daphne Stratham
David Jones
Bill Utting
Kate Pride.
Agreed Baroness Val Howarth to be asked to chair and possibility of HL pursued; alternative possible venue: Royal Soc of Medicine.
KB agreed to sound out the above.Action KB
Exhibition: Possible approach to Helen Ford.
Press: Joe Devo will be asked nearer the time.
2) CHESTER event and WEBSITE
25th March 2010; 12.00 – 4.00 Chester University campus.
An advance notice has been circulated. MB will prepare a flier with RSVP for catering numbers.
MB has organised two speakers: Jim Richards (formerly) RC Children’s Society; Alan Lewis C/E Liverpool Council for Voluntary Service.
Mike Burt will also speak about the website.
3) SWHN SUMMER EVENT

Lindsey Cullen – History of Voluntary Groups/podcasts.
Agreed Jacqui Moore’s offer of a tour of The Retreat, York be explored and enquiries made as to whether a meeting at the hospital would also be possible. Action KB
4) ARCHIVES
RC is to meet Hilton Dawson and Helen Ford at MRC Warwick on 12th March to discuss the BASW archives. RC reminded the meeting that there will be the issue of raising funds for archiving BASW records from 1990 in the foreseeable future.
It was agreed DG should join the meeting.
5) MRC/SWHN
27th May 2010 – the topic will be: Fathering Then and Now. James Blewett MRC is organising this.
