ITEMS OF INTEREST TO MEMBER CLUBS – HELPFUL ADVICE AND IMPORTANT DATES

Club insurance cover: As part of the annual application to the OCA, all clubs should have sent a copy of their ‘insurance cover’ to the General Secretary. Have you done this?Check that the cover is in date and that you have sufficient cover for your club.

Club Constitution: Not a condition of membership to the OCA, but to be recommended so that all members are aware how your club operates and the rules agreed, particularly on financial and legal matters.

DBS certificates: Do all your captains, umpires and coaches have current certificates? Please check to see that they are ‘in date’ and if anyone is working with young people and not holding a DBS, please arrange to obtain one urgently – it is an offence not to hold one. Contact the OCB office for advice.

Welfare Officer: The OCA Executive wish to encourage all clubs to appoint a Welfare Officer (WO), particularly those running youth sections. The OCB have recently appointed Stuart Murphy as the County Welfare Officer. Contact him via the OCB office if you need any advice.

Affiliation to the OCB: The OCA are affiliated, and we would encourage all clubs to do the same for an annual cost of £20.00. There are many benefits, particularly for clubs with Youth Sections. Contact the OCB for information.

OCA Grant fund: The OCA Executive wish to advise the member clubs that this fund has been suspended for the 2018 season, but will hopefully operate again in 2019.

OCB Small Grants Fund: If the OCA can’t help with your funding this year, then try the OCB who have a fund offering from 1 to 4k…contact the OCB for details.

Pre-season meeting dates: In 2018 the Captain’s pre-season will precede the Umpires, as there will be rule changes agreed at the Captain’s meeting which will need to be passed to the umpires.

April 26th 2018 - Umpires meeting….both to be held at Stratfield Brake – Kidlington commencing 7.30 pm

OCA Clubs Forum : Arranged for Wednesday 28th March 2018 and will be held at Oxford University Press - Jordan Hill Business Park – Banbury Road – Oxford – OX4 3RB…full details to be confirmed, but we are looking for a good turn-out from the member clubs?

Updating Club details on website: This is the responsibility of the club to ensure that your club information is correct. When you know the information for the 2018 season, please log-in to the website, select ‘clubs’, click on edit and make the changes, clicking update when completed. If you are uncertain of your club password, please contact the webmaster.

Keeping ‘players’ updated on OCA news?: Another idea being discussed is the possibility of having an OCA player database, so that we can keep everyone updated on important issues, which although sent out to club contacts, does not always get to the players. This would be on a completely voluntary basis, with players advising us of their name, club and email address which would be added to a list and would only be used for OCA business, and never passed on to outside organisations.
