Salary:Up to £10.00 per hour (£19,500pro-rata)depending on experience

Hours of work:7.5 (1 days)

Base:Ludus Dance, Assembly Rooms, King Street, Lancaster, LA1 1RE.

Period of contract:Fixed term contract until 31st July 2019 with the possibility of extension subject to continued funding and/or the success of the post.

Period of notice:Sixmonths after probationary period

Holiday entitlement:27 days(pro-rata), plus bank holidays.

Job Purpose:

To maximise all relevant community fundraising opportunities particularly those relating to the Catalyst Evolve project for the organisation and to support the delivery of Ludus Dance’s Mission and strategic objectives as defined in the Business Plan.

Job Description:

The Community Fundraiser has responsibility for the development and delivery of Ludus Dance’s community fundraising initiatives. This includes working alongside staff and mobilizing teams of volunteers to support planned activities or to carry out their own fundraisingactivities.

The post holder will be line managed by and report to Ludus Dance’s Chief Executive.

Main role and responsibilities

  • With support from the Chief Executive,develop and deliver a three year plan of community fundraising initiatives and activity,with financial targets, to support the Business Plan.
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and the wider team to identify community fundraising opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver a range of community fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Manage and report on community fundraised income working closely with the Finance Officer.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of all community fundraising activities from beginning to end, including budget management and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Support other aspects of Ludus Dance’s fundraising work as appropriate

People management and development

  • Establish and maintain a team of volunteers to support community fundraising activity
  • Support the Friends of Ludus Dance in fundraising activities
  • Build the confidence of colleagues to carry out community fundraising
  • Provide outstanding service to Ludus Dance supporters, maximising their support and retention.
  • Contribute to ensuring that the company works as a strong and cohesive team.

External relations

  • Work with local businesses to attract public donations (e.g. bag packs at supermarkets/charity of the month)
  • Solicit other business support such as in kind donations of goods for resale/raffle or discounted services.
  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer to promote and market fundraising activities liaising with press and media and write press releases as required.
  • Maintain a social media presence including the Ludus Dance website in relation to community fundraising, making sure all information is engaging and accurate.
  • Deal with queries from supporters and the general public by phone, email and in person.
  • Play an active part in appropriate networks and represent Ludus Dance at meetings and events as appropriate.
  • Ensure fundraising partners are appropriately thanked and informed.
  • Keep up to date with, and ensure, that Ludus Dance complies with relevant fundraising legislation including Gift Aid, Data Protection Act, Codes of Practice and other good practice to fulfill the requirements of the charity commission and the Fundraising Regulator. Implement changes required in order to satisfy these.

Carry out any new or additional duties commensurate with the post and any relevant tasks as requested by the CEO.

The post holder also needs to respond to tight deadlines on a frequent basis and to respond quickly to requests for additional information/participation in new developments which are unforeseen/unplanned, but which are considered to be in the best interests of the business or in response to requests from key funders.

  • Participate in supervision meetings and appraisal of direct reports.
  • Undergo annual appraisal andany training considered necessary by the CEO
  • Undertake all necessary administration required to fulfill the responsibilities of this job description.

The post has a requirement of 7.5 hours per week, flexible, which can be agreed with the line manager. The post holder must be flexible to respond to needs at busy times and be prepared to work unsociable hours and travel when required.
