A RESOLUTION memorializing Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey and adjourning the House of Representatives in her honor.

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey was born a native daughter of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in Madison County in 1899, and resided there her entire life; and

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey was an active member of her community serving in the Society of Boonesboro and the Madison County Republican Women's Club; and

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey garnered notoriety through exercising her right of suffrage and voting in every single general election since 1920, including the November, 2003 general election; and

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey served the Lord sincerely and lived by her convictions, being an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church since January 1, 1930; and prior to her death, she was the oldest living member of the church; and

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey was the loving and beloved wife of the late A.J. Lackey, and the loving mother of Mary Ann Hanlon and the late Jackson B. Lackey; and

WHEREAS, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey died on January 26, 2004; and

WHEREAS, for being so active in her community for so many years, Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey will always be remembered for her perseverance in life; and for being so loyal to the church and expressing that devotion in her living, she will always be remembered for her faith in God;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow to the family of Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey, and does hereby remember and pause in reverence of a life lived with faith in God and service to community.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in the warmest remembrance suitable for this remarkable woman.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Harry Moberly for distribution to the family of Nannie Lee Sallee Lackey.
