Plant material including trees, shrubs, perennial and annual flowers, seed and sod shall be provided under this proposal and are offered at cost, plus delivery*, plus 7% handling**. In general, plant material is delivered to Evergreen Nursery Corporation and is stored and maintained until it is taken to the job site and installed. In some cases, plant material may be delivered directly to the job site if needed for a particular project.
Evergreen Nursery Corporation shops for the best possible price for plant material that meets all standards and requirements of each specific order. Whenever possible, Evergreen Nursery Corp. combines shipments, and purchases for multiple projects in order to get the best possible price for both material and shipping.
*Delivery prices include all labor and additional equipment (i.e. truck(s), loader) for loading, transporting and unloading materials.
** Handling includes acquiring, temporary storage (up to 30 days) and maintenance at Evergreen Nursery Corporation yard, and all administrative and overhead costs.

TECHNICAL APPROACH
Plant material will be purchased from plant suppliers in locations as specified, delivered and maintained at Evergreen Nursery Corporation yard until planting locations are identified. Plant pits will be dug when conditions are not wet. Soil amendments may be stored at ENC yard and will be taken to the site along with trees to be planted, and used or omitted as directed be client project manager.
Planting will be done to specifications for pit size, amendments, watering, wire and staking, mulch, and pest control, all in accordance with industry standards and as indicated by the client project manager.
Work will be accomplished in accordance with safety standards as specified.
Evergreen Nursery Corporation maintains vehicles and equipment necessary for work under Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping, and all required insurance coverage.
All laborers are trained on the equipment being operated and are personally supervised by Gary M. French in all phases of the operation. Employees will be polite and respectful of any visitors as well as the client project manager or his representatives at all times.
Having worked in areas such as the White House Grounds, the AAFB hanger area for Air Force One, and other very sensitive sites, Evergreen Nursery Corp. has experience with both the government official requirements, security concerns, and the public.

A Brief Outline of Evergreen Nursery Corporation
Evergreen Nursery Corporation is a full service landscape contractor and grounds maintenance contractor, which has been located in Fort Washington, Maryland, since 1955. We are experienced in all phases of landscape installation, design, and maintenance. We also have nearly forty years experience in turf establishment and maintenance. Evergreen Nursery Corporation has insurance coverage necessary to meet most standard requirements, and can be modified to meet any special needs for a particular project. We are members of the American Association of Nurserymen Association.
Evergreen Nursery Corp. has all necessary licenses to do business in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. We are certified as pesticide applicators in turf and ornamental categories. To maintain our pesticide licenses and to keep abreast with new developments in horticulture, we regularly attend seminars offered in conjunction with Maryland and Virginia departments of Agriculture, and the Maryland Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Maryland. In addition, Gary French, president, is a licensed tree expert.

We have worked with numerous contractors including Intellimar, Inc., Blake Construction Company, Omni Construction, and the George Hyman Construction Company. We have performed work for several local governments, agencies, and the federal government including the National Park Service and Maryland Department of Agriculture, National Association of Home Builders, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the National Rifle Association.
Evergreen Nursery Corporation was founded by Francis X. French. His goal of providing quality work at a reasonable price remains the goal of this family owned and operated business and is carried on by his son, Gary M. French, who is now president of the corporation.
PAST EXPERIENCE
Evergreen Nursery Corporation was established in 1955, and incorporated in the state of Maryland in 1974, by Francis and Muriel French. This family business has been in continuous operation since establishment and has served the tri-state area, including Maryland, the District of Columbia, and northern Virginia in Landscape Contracting and Grounds Maintenance Contracting. The majority of landscape projects are for various government agencies and commercial projects with a few residential customers. Evergreen Nursery Corporation holds Pesticide Applicator/Business Licenses for Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Gary French also holds a Maryland Tree Expert License. Gary M. French, current company president and son of the founders, joined the business in 1971 while still attending high school and worked his way up through hands-on experience in all phases of company operations until he took over as president of the corporation in 1988.
Evergreen Nursery Corporation has done numerous tree planting projects for the National Park Service over a period of approximately twenty-two years, completing multiple projects each year. These projects entailed planting hundreds of trees which required specific root ball sizes, quality, conformity and planting techniques required by the National Park Service. At some locations, very large specimen trees were obtained and installed. ENC has established a congenial working relationship with National Park service representatives, and has extensive experience in meeting the exacting standards required for work at the various National Parks, secure areas, and sensitive government sites. Evergreen has ongoing projects with Maryland Department of Agriculture, and has done many landscaping and grounds maintenance projects at both Andrews and Bolling Air force Bases. Planting techniques and standards maintained by ENC have resulted in extremely small incidences of plant failure. ENC routinely guarantees plantings for one year, provide proper maintenance is performed.
In 2003-2004, Evergreen Nursery Corporation provided planting service through Intellimar, Inc., to fill, install plant material, and provide maintenance for large security planters placed around various Smithsonian Institute buildings including the Air and SpaceMuseum, the American and NaturalHistoryMuseums, and the Department of Commerce. Because these planters are located in busy, downtown sidewalk areas, much of the work was done after normal working hours. Coordination was essential in order to bring in gravel as planters were placed, then fill with specialized soil mixes, maintain plants at the company yard until planters were prepared, then install the plants in planters. Maintenance required watering - sometimes daily during long droughts, cleaning debris, fertilizing, and replacing damaged or missing plants as needed to present an attractive appearance at all times.
