Column A – C – Example: Reread the first paragraph in section 1. How does Rikki know how to behave in the bungalow? What do Rikki’s actions in this paragraph demonstrate about his attitude toward being there?

Answer: Rikki knows how to behave in the bungalow because his mother used to live in a white man’s house and told him what to do if he ever came across a white man and live in a house (S. 4). Without question, Rikki has a very happy and positive attitude towards being in the bungalow with the family. He is well-behaved because “… every well-brought up mongoose always hopes to be a house mongoose someday….”(S. 4).
