It gives us immense pleasure to cordially invite you to the NAMS - AIIMS Rishikesh CME on "Acute Ischemic Stroke : Basics to Advances" at,

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh.

The prevalence of stroke in India is estimated as 90-222 per lac, approximately. 1.44-1.64 million cases of new acute stroke are added each year and almost 12% stroke occurs in age less than 40 years and the incidence is increasing tremendously year by year and posing heavy burden on country's economy. The major risk factors for stroke are diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and mental stress. Taking cognizance of rising incidence of Non-communicable Diseases in the country. National Programme for Prevention and Control of Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) and Stroke was launched during the 11th Five-year Plan (2007-2012) and activities were initiated in 100 selected districts in 21 states.

This CME activity is designed to sensitize the clinicians about the serious nature of acute ischemic stroke, update knowledge of its pathophysiology, enhance diagnostic skills, and share recent advances regarding appropriate measures for its primary prevention and timely management. Such educational programs will create awareness amongst clinicians, resulting in early diagnosis, and timely delivery of medical services more effectively. AIIMS Rishikesh is one of the six apex healthcare institutes being established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). With the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertlary level healthcare in the country and attaining self sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
