/ar/controlled words, High frequency words, verbs for now and past, and /ed/ words.
*Write spelling words. /er/ir/ur words. Do phonograms for the /er/ir/ur/
*Build background knowledge: What do you know about caterpillars.
*Picture walk of story: I’m a Caterpillar.
Read story and students follow. Stop and discuss events in story. / Review high frequency words and read sentences.
Phonemic awareness: controlled
/er/ir/ur/ words. Use tiles to make words.
*Read story and discuss vocabulary, cocoon, chrysalis, etc.
* In student notebook, list the steps the caterpillar goes through (life cycle). Illustrate. / Read story.

*Play game (True/False) with facts from each animal. I will say a statement and student will say if it’s true or false. Student will have to find in book the statement to verify the fact.
