MS.GRAVES SETTINGS ESSAY

SETTING ESSAY

It was December 17th, 2006, no snow but heavy rain and we were still getting ready. My father all dressed up with his Miami dolphins gear on from head to toe just couldn’t stop yelling. He was excited about the game that was about to happen between the buffalo bills and the Miami dolphins. Me and my little brother were also excited because it was are first football game we ever went to. The day was going great until I saw my dads face turn upside down. I had no idea what was going on so I asked what was wrong. He said with a little anger in his voice,” I CANT FIND THE DAMN TICKETS “. I had to laugh because like five minutes ago I told my step mom and little brother I guarantee he misplaces something. While my dad was mad we all had a good laugh up stairs, the laugh was so good we all had tears coming from are eyes. On the way down the stairs things have changed drastically. There were coats, shovels, hats, coach pillows and wat ever else my dad can throw all over the place. The house was turned upside down with a purpose. The time was 9:45 exact and we were still in the house. 10:30 came and we finally found the tickets. They were in his jacket pocket which was under his orange coat which was under his clear poncho. Hugs and kisses to the family and we started to head out around 10 something and traffic wasn’t playing fair. Cars to the left, right, in front and in the back of us and we just hit 490. We all were wondering if everyone on the expressway were going to the game. When we got farther down the line we saw the problem. Flashing lights and multiple cop cars with ambulances were on attendance. I remember an all black explorer with tinted windows and huge rims faced the opposite way from which way we were going. The front of the truck look like it had been kicked in by a real big boot. A heavy set African ameican man was sitting on the guard rail on his cell phone with anger in his eyes. A few minutes past and we were back moving, roads wet and slick so we were forced to drive slower than the speed limit. The game was set to start at one and we were still not there. We thought the rain would stop but we were wrong it kept going. The time was 12:45 and we were around the corner from the stadium and the line to the parking lot was crazy. Car after car piled up by the entrance to the stadium every single color, shape, size, car was there. One look at the sky you could see the darkest clouds ever. Real grey with no intention of going away. Parking was hectic and pricey too. Tailgating in the parking lot was great, grills everywhere with juicy burgers and hot dogs on them. The dogs had grill marks on them to show how done they were. Lots of boos heading in to the ticket lounge were towards my dad because of his Miami gear he had on. It was funny because I could see the playfulness in his face when he told them to shut the F up. Wet seats and green grass was all over the place with beautiful cheerleaders dancing. Lots of cursing with spilled beer and peanuts every where. The game goes by and my dad is pissed, his team lost 21 zip. On the way out the problems got worse because the buffalo fans were teasing him for repping the losing team. Traffic wasn’t no better and more accidents were to come just another way to get home slower.
