History of Journalism Project

Due Date: Monday, September 19th

Assignment:

You will research a period in the history of mass communication and create a visual that will educate the class on that period of journalism history. You will present your project to the class on Monday, 9/19. For your visual, you will create a PowerPoint or Prezi including the following:

a. A title slide, conclusion slide, and a Works Cited slide

b. A minimum of 15 informational slides with at least 20 facts

c. A minimum of 5 pictures or graphics

d. Must be informative as well as interesting

e. Follow the 6x6 rule; no complete sentences on slides!

Works Cited Requirements:

1. You must have at least 3 primary sources. Google and Wikipedia do not count as primary sources. Look for websites that end in “.edu” or “.gov” as opposed to “.com”.

2. Follow the MLA Stylebook for listing your works.

Presentation Requirements:

1. Your grade will reflect both the quality of the presentation and the quality/quantity of the information presented.

2. You must be familiar enough with the information to present well to the class. REHEARSE!

3. Presentations must be professional. DO NOT TALK TO CLASSMATES WHILE YOU ARE PRESENTING.

4. You will lose 2 points off your test grade each time you talk, sleep, text, or otherwise fail to pay attention to classmates’ presentations.
