This is anexciting opportunity foran ambitiousand inspirationalpractitionerwho wants to take on a strategically-importantmiddle leadershiprole within aninnovative11-16school. Studentswith English as an Additional Language (EAL) make up 52% of the academy community, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that these students are making accelerated progress and receivingthe best provision available. Our students need to be competent speakers, listeners, readers and writers of English in all its forms: including the academic.

The successful candidate willbe anoutstanding teacher andinnovative thinker who willlead the EAL department and be responsible for planningand implementinginterventions for our EAL learners;measuring the impactof interventions; monitoringthe progressof EAL students,and also fordeveloping and improvingEALteaching and learning throughout theacademy. Suitable candidates will have some experience of successful management of an academic department, as the ability to plan and implement actions at a strategic level is essential. Knowledge and experience of both EAL and literacy strategies for raising achievement isessential, as is the ability to develop links with all other curriculum areas and pastoral teams in theacademy, as well asbuild networksacrossthe wider trust.
