BREWDOG SMASHES £10M WITH EQUITY FOR PUNKS IV, BREAKING WORLD CROWDFUNDING RECORD

  • Craft beer breweryannounces record breaking £10m total raised for fourth round of Equity for Punks
  • The result means BrewDog’sequity crowdfunding raise is the biggest in the world
  • Fans can invest through the BrewDog website until April 2016

Scottish craft brewery BrewDog, well-known for its history of relying on crowdfunding over traditional means of investment, has smashed a world record by hitting an epic £10m via its latest Equity for Punks schemethrough the issue of shares and mini-bonds. The irreverent business is famously funded by beer fans, and has left a trail of shattered records in its wake since the launch of the latest round of crowdfunding at the end of April.

BrewDog, the UK’s fastest-growing food & drinks business, is currently in its fourth round of the unique crowdfunding initiative and made waves in the finance world recently with a record-breaking £5m raised in under three weeks. Now in its sixth consecutive year of record growth, BrewDog is offering 526,316 shares for a minimum investment of £95 for two shares, offering beer buffs a piece of the craft beer revolution.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “We’ve not just broken a record, we’ve smashed through it with a monster truck. According to a MarketWatch* BrewDog is surpassing thecurrent highest equity crowdfunded project in the world to date – which totalled$6,000,000 raised – by over 50%. We now have an incredible35,000 Equity Punks who love beer and support and influence everything we do – we’re absolutely buzzing about this milestone.”

“We turned traditional business on its head when we first introduced the Equity for Punks business model, and it’s worked. We’ve been the fastest growing food drinks company in the UK over the last four years, and we’ve managed to scale purely via this mechanic. Equity for Punks is all about shortening the distance between us and the people who drink our beer, and enabling us to keep putting passion in people’s beer glasseswithout resorting to begging funding from big monolithic banks who don’t care about the beer. £10m is phenomenal. But we’re not stopping there.”

This latest round of Equity for Punks runs until April 2016.The money raised will fund new bar openings across the globe, with upcoming bars include Dog Eat Dog in Islington, DogHouse in Glasgow and BrewDog Soho in London. Furthermore, funds raised will enable the launch of a craft distillery and sour beer facility, establish a craft beer hotel and invest in Environmental Technologies. With an increased annual turnover of a huge 63 per cent to over £29.6million in 2014, compared to £18million in 2013, the investment potential is substantial and themalt mavericks are inviting anyonewho shares theirvision and values to grab a front row seat to the brewery’s journey towards world domination.

What is BrewDog?

Bored of the industrially brewed lagers and stuffy ales that dominated the UK market, school friends James Watt and Martin Dickie established BrewDog in 2007. They decided the best way to fix this undesirable predicament was to brew their own beers. Both only 24 at the time, BrewDog’s cofounders leased a building, got some scary bank loans, spent all their money on stainless steel and started making hardcore beers.

“We are dedicated to making cool, contemporary and progressive beers showcasing some of the world’s classic beer styles. All with an innovative twist and customary BrewDog bite.”
