Job title:Local Engagement Coordinator

Salary range: £25,119 - £31,743 per annum (Excluding London weighting)

Location: Flexible, to be based in a Living Streets office in London, Newcastle or Cardiff

Reporting to:Campaigns and Engagement Manager

Hours:35 hours per week

Duration: Fixed term 18 months contract, subject to possible extension

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To develop, support and grow our network ofsupporters, members and Local Groupsin delivering Living Streets mission and strategy. There will be a particular focus on developing local campaign and engagement activity in towns and cities across the UK.

The post will be a fixed term period of 18 months, but subject to review at that point.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To develop, manage and implement plans to grow our network of supporters, members and Local Groups
  • To provide policy support to our Local Group network and establish peer to peer support systems for Group contacts to enable the sharing of on-the-ground knowledge.
  • To support our Local Groups to campaign locally
  • To engage Local Groupsand supporters in Living Streets campaigns and provide opportunities for them to support campaigning work by the national organisation
  • To develop support materials and resources for Local Groups, members and supporters
  • To develop high impact communications that inspire our supporters to get involved and take action
  • To oversee events, workshops and conferences that bring together Local Groups, members and supporters
  • To run activities and campaigns at a local or regional level that encourages long term local engagement
  • To develop and roll out a comprehensive communications plan to engage with our Local Groups. members and supporters
  • To showcase the achievements of our Local Groups, members and supporters through Living Streets channels and in local communities
  • To develop opportunities for fundraising engagement activity at a local or regional level
  • To help Local Groups undertake fundraising activity in their area to support local activity and wider Living Streets income generation plans
  • Provide support to Living Streets staff to allow them to take an active part in helping to grow our reach in their geographical area (e.g. providing support to Wales and Scotland teams to support Local Groups in their areas)
  • To pilot new approaches to local engagement and feedback on results
  • To take responsibility for member and supporter database, keeping up to date and observing data protection requirements
  • To monitor and evaluate Local Group, member and supporter activity

OTHER DUTIES

  • Be an ambassador for Living Streets to external audiences as required, promoting the Living Streets brand and messages, including at public events, in interaction with stakeholders
  • Be an active contributor to your Department, to team meetings and away days
  • Support fellow staff and provide internal mentoring and training as appropriate
  • Adhere to Living Streets policies and procedures, maintaining good liaison across the organisation
  • Ensure the effective delivery of our Strategic Plan and Objectives
  • Ensure our equal opportunities policy is understood and implemented at all levels
  • Deputise for the Campaigns & Engagement Manager in their absence
  • Reasonable occasional out of office hours work will be required as may be some travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time, as requested by the line manager or Chief Executive

Experience of developing supporter journeys (online and offline) /  / 
Experience of developing fundraising activity (desirable) /  / 
Knowledge and skills
Excellent written and spoken communication skills /  / 
Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines /  / 
Understanding of relevant data protection requirements /  / 
Confidence when working with groups of volunteers /  / 
Demonstrable ability to understand and balance the needs of supporters and the wider charity / 
Knowledge of email broadcast tools and website CRM systems /  / 

Willing to undertake regular travel across the UK to meet with local groups /  / 
Ability to get on with and develop positive relationships with people at all levels / 
Ability to work flexibly, including travel or evening and weekend working / 

Terms and Conditions

  • 25 days holiday in year 1 (pro rata) (in addition to public holidays and 2/3 days off for Christmas office closure), rising by 1 day each year of service up to maximum of 30 days after 5 years (pro rata)
