Semester Project: Tornado Safety Video

Due May 12th

Working in groups of 3-5 people make a video showing what to do and what not to do during a tornado. A person may remove themselves from a group and do the alternate assignment. Student may not move to another group.

Attention:

All school and district rules, dress codes and policies apply when making this video. Students will be held responsible for anything observed or heard on tape. At no time is the student to do anything that would bring harm to him or her or a member of the group during the making of this video. This is a school assignment that is meant to be completed on the student's own time. The teacher and/or the school cannot be responsible for the safety or behavior of anyone involved in the making of this video. The School is not responsible for providing equipment.

•Group members must be from Mrs. Moonen’s Classes

Everyone Must Present in Front of the Camera:

  • All School Policies Apply

No Vulgar Language, Gestures

No Inappropriate Clothing, Music, etc.

When in Doubt, Don't Do It!

Any video that isinappropriate will result in a grade of zero for all group members!

*The teacher reserves the right to add or remove anyone from a group.

Format:Check to see if your format works with Mrs. Moonen’s smartboard before the due date. WMV, MOV, MPEG, AVI on CD, Thumb Drive,uploading it to YouTube is acceptable as long as you have permission from parents. You can save the video file to CD, do not make DVD (I don’t have the proper player to play it). A VHS tape is also accepted. If you have a question about the format, please contact Mrs. Moonen.

Facts:Five facts and three sources need to be typed and handed in with the video on May 12th. All group members’ names and hours need to be included. (Only one copy is needed for the entire group.

Alternate Assignment:

Any student who does not want to complete a video or does not complete a video can complete the following assignment to receive credit for this semester project.

Tornado Safety Pamphlet:

•Using the guidelines for the video project, design and create a pamphlet on tornado safety.

•Must be a colorful and creative tri-fold pamphlet.

• Can be handmade or computer generated.

•There will be six pages:

•Title

•Things to do

•Things not to do

•Supplies needed

•Places to take shelter

•5 facts

Include 3 sources (MLA format) on front or back cover.
