Invitation to the Informed Cities Workshop, Belgrade, April 14th 2011
On behalf of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), National Association of Local Authorities in Serbia and the partners of the Informed Cities Initiative, we have the pleasure to invite you to the Informed Cities Workshop that will take place on April 14th 2011at the SCTM’s conference room, located at 22 Makedonska St.,Belgrade, Serbia. The workshop is held in English.
The workshop will focus on challenges related to evaluating and benchmarking the local sustainability performance, both in terms of governance processes and quantitative indicators. The participants of the workshop will be introduced to two research-based tools for evaluating sustainable urban management, Local Evaluation 21 (LE21) and Urban Ecosystem Europe (UEE), and discuss their applicability in European context.
Gathering a selected group of up to 20 participants, the workshop will provide a good opportunity for lively exchange on the methodology and practice of measuring local sustainability progress. The local government representatives will have the chance to share their experience and expectations with both researchers and representatives of national institutions dealing with local sustainability.
This workshop, along with eleven others taking place across Europe, is part of the Informed Cities Initiative, a three-year European project dedicated to bridging the gap between research and local policy-making for sustainable development. If your city wants to be part of this project visit the Informed Cities website and sign up. For further details consult the project information page.
Please note that the Informed Cities Initiative offers, if needed, for those who participate in the workshop limited funds for the reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs. In order to secure your place at the workshop, pleasefill out the workshop registration formand send it by March 25th 2011.
