Mrs. Meyers’s Classroom Rules and Procedures
Classroom Rules
1. Be in your seat with all necessary supplies when the bell rings.
2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
3. No cursing or teasing.
4. No distractions such as grooming, drinking, eating, and using electronics.
5. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Corrective Action
First time a rule is broken: Student will receive a warning
Second time a rule is broken: Student and Teacher Conference & Parent Phone Call
Third time a rule is broken: Referral
Grading Procedures
Test – 60%
Daily Work/ Homework- 40%
Daily Work and Homework
You have two days to turn in assignments without losing points. After the second day it will no longer be accepted. Students must show all work. (The student will receive a 0 for all assignments turned in that do not show work.)
Supplies
1. Paper
2. Pencils
3. Composition notebook (preferably composition graph notebook)
4. 1 box of tissue
5. Glue stick
6. 8 AAA batteries
7. Red pens
Entering the Classroom
1. Enter the room quietly
2. Be on time
3. Get materials out that you need, journals, paper, pencil and calculator
4. Make sure all cell phones and other electronic devices are turned off and stored in backpack. If caught using or messing with these items during class, it will be taken up and turned into administration. In order to get cell phones back, the parent must pick it up and also pay $15.
5. Sharpen pencils and get anything you might need such as Kleenex before the bell rings. You will not be allowed to get up during the lesson for these things.
6. Get to work immediately on the “bell ringer” posted on the front board or elmo.
Bell Work
1. Will be posted at the front of the room each day and should be started as soon as the student enters the classroom. Student should not wait for the bell to start this work.
2. Each student will complete it on their warm up sheet and will be turned in for two daily grades.
Pencil sharpener and trashcans
1. No one will be allowed to go to the pencil sharpener during a lesson or while I am talking.
2. One person at a time at the pencil sharpener
3. Students are not allowed to get up and go to the trashcan during the lesson or while I am talking.
Bathroom and water fountains
1. Take care of your business in between classes; don’t ask to go to the bathroom or water fountain.
2. If it is an emergency, please let me know.
Journals
1. Bring your journal to class EVERYDAY.
2. Journals will be on test grade per 6 weeks. This is an easy 100.
3. Students should use this as a resource to study for tests.
Leaving the class
1. The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does.
2. Make sure you have turned in all work for the day and written down any assignments in your journal.
3. Clean up your area or your desk including anything on the tables or floor and place any trash in the trashcan as you exit.
4. Once teacher says you are free to leave, leave the room quietly.
Tardies
1. Once the bell rings, the door will be shut.
2. Students not inside the class when the bell rings are tardy.
3. Students must report to the tardy station
4. Student will quietly hand the teacher the slip and have a seat to begin work.
Tutorials
1. Cat Connections: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during A-Lunch
2. I will be in my room Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm.
3. Students must sign in upon entering the room for tutorials and will be expected to get to work and not hang out or leave once in my room.
