CLUB RIDING ETIQUETTE
Our Sunday Runs are intended to be “social” rides, with each section riding together as a cohesive group. This entails riding at a speed that is comfortable for everyone in that group, being aware of what is happening behind, and not letting any large gaps develop within the group, especially into the wind and / or on long drags.!! Wherever possible, the stronger riders should share the work at the front of the group, and also, the practices of “half wheeling” and habitual “riding off from the front” should be discouraged.
In inclement weather, especially in winter, the use of effective rear mudguards & mudflaps is very much appreciated by the following riders, and Club Members are actively encouraged to fit them.

3) RACING / SPORTING
The Roller Revolution
Recently saw the practice session for the upcoming Roller Revolution, a new series of Roller Racing events.
With a total of 9 kids (from 4 to 14 years old) showing the adults just how skilful and fast they are, it was a great night. Everybody enjoyed the opportunity to have a go at something new, something different There were plenty of people available to ensure that everybody who turned up to have a go managed to stay upright and then progressed on to riding unaided.
The Roller Revolution will include events for all ages and abilities, so those that didn't make it to the practice night will still be able to take part. As with the practice event there will be plenty of people on hand to help and assist those new to riding rollers. The racing events will include a points league based upon handicap times as well as scratch times. The emphasis will be on fun and improvement.
The first Roller Revolution event took place on Friday 6th January, starting at 6pm for the younger riders, with the adult events commencing at around 7pm.
It is hoped that these events can be organised on a fortnightly basis initially, with some special events thrown in, up until early May. Hopefully one of the events in February will be held in Chevin Cycles showroom for added interest.
Please come along to the events and have a go or support those that do ride.
Roller Racing has been described as Karaoke on wheels, lets hope its better quality than that, but just as much fun.
Anybody with any questions, please give Peter Middlebrooke a call on 01943 461474 or

June XX Otley Town Centre Road Races (Date to be Confirmed) keep Keep your eyes peeled for a “mid June” date for this very popular and spectacular event.
July 15 Audax Rides from Otley CC Club House (100 km & 200 km) Chris Boulton is organising two Audax rides this year, using the clubhouse as the HQ. The shorter one - a 100 km event, is a shameless plaigarising of the B' Section "3 M's ride", but entitled 'The Two M's Ride'. It should provide an easy introduction to Audax, and I'm hoping to attract not just some OCC interest, but also other riders from the Leeds area who may fancy the challenge.
The other one is a rather more interesting 200km 'Yorkshire Mixture' , up Wharfedale and over Kidstones to Aysgarth, then Redmire, Fremington and Marrick Moor to Richmond, returning via Northallerton, Aldwarke Bridge and Wetherby. When I rode the route in September the views were fantastic. Thelonger one Starts at 8:00am, and the 100km one Starts at 9:00am. There will be tea/coffee and biscuits at the start, and some cake, tea and coffee at the finish. For entry, see the AUK website at (click on 'Calendar')

Therefore, should a rider wish to nominate a Particular Section that they want score points in, would they then please either ring or email me. At the December 2005 Committee Meeting it was agreed that anyone who was acting in an official capacity on behalf of the Club on Sundays could claim points to offset their loss of Club Run Points.
