A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 77110, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN BEAUFORT COUNTY, SO AS TO REVIEW AND RENAME CERTAIN VOTING PRECINCTS OF BEAUFORT COUNTY AND REDESIGNATE A MAP NUMBER FOR THE MAP ON WHICH LINES OF THESE PRECINCTS ARE DELINEATED AND MAINTAINED BY THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD, AND TO ADD A PROVISION TO AUTHORIZE THE BEAUFORT COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION, WITH THE APPROVAL OF A MAJORITY OF THE BEAUFORT COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION, TO DETERMINE THE POLLING PLACES FOR THE PRECINCTS IN BEAUFORT COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 77110 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 177 of 2002, is further amended to read:

“Section 77110. (A) In Beaufort County there are the following voting precincts:

(B) The precinct lines defining the above precincts are as shown on the official map prepared by and on file with the Office of Research and Statistical Services Statistics of the Budget and Control Board designated as document P1302 P1306 and as shown on certified copies of the official map provided to the State Election Commission and the Beaufort County Board of Voter Elections and Registration by the Office of Research and Statistical Services Statistics.

(C) The polling places for the precincts provided in this section must be established by the Beaufort County Board of Elections and Registration subject to the approval of a majority of the Beaufort County Delegation.”

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies to elections conducted after July 15, 2006.
