  1. Welcome and Introductions Kay Wing

The meeting was called to order at 9:35 am. with introductions of all members present.

  1. Minutes from September 12, 2008 Meeting Kay Wing

Minutes from the September 12, 2008 meeting were reviewed. Terry Kotrla moved and

Annette Gregory seconded the motion to approve the minutes. The motion carried.

  1. Budget Report Rebecca Francis

A report of the current budget was given showing budget amounts and expenditures to date.

  1. Old Business Sharyl Kincaid
  2. Tech Prep Mini-grant Awards

Sharyl reported the grant amounts awarded by district name and explained the

formula for funding the grant awards.

  1. College Mini-Grant deadline

This deadline was extended to December 19, 2008. All interested parties have been

notified.

  1. Articulation Workshops

Sharyl reported that332 teachers have participated in articulation workshops. The culinary workshop will be held December 3, 2008. Specific numbers were identified by school district. Sharyl suggested that teachers should set up classes in CATEMA for articulation credit this fall and students in a full year course should enter their identifying information in the spring semester. Students in one semester articulated courses should enter their information before the end of the semester.

  1. Student follow-up

Information was shared that indicates the number of students in the 2007-2008 school year (fall, spring and summer semesters) that have taken ACC courses in a related pathway. Additional information by district included;

  • a course related to their declared major + general studies and undeclared students,
  • a course related to their declared major and data indicating the course name,
  • and the number of students by district that continued in related certificate programs.

Sharyl will provide student names to district members if this meets ACC agreement guidelines.

A. ACC Presentations

AutoCAD and Biotechnology Presentations were cancelled due to nonattendance.

B. Certification vs. Certificate

ACC offers at least one certificate program for every associate degree program.

Sharyl gave several examples inidentifying distinct differences between certificate programs and a certification. Discussion of the 2SI Technical Skill Attainment report followed and included allowable and unallowable certifications. Kay Wing reported that the allowable list is located on the TEA website. Sharyl reported that district teachers have requested game development programming specific workshops. Skillpoint Alliance also offers summer professional development in video game development.

C. ATC PEIMS changes

An email from Karen Batchelor dated August 17, 2008 addressed questions regarding changes to ATC PEIMS. Discussion on the effect of these changes followed.

  1. Carl D. Perkins Formula Funding

Formula funding definitions for the award of Carl Perkins funds including reallocation was given. Clenton LaGrone shared that the ESC 2 website hosts an interactive source to determine weighted funding amounts. Annette Gregory also shared that the TEA website includes a financial summary of past and projected weighted funding by school districts names. Perkins performance target guidelines were defined.

E. Other Business

Jenna Akridge, WSRCA, requested the source of LEP student numbers separately by individual languages. It was determined by several members that this information is reported in PEIMS numbers and available by individual districts.

  1. Summer Conference

Sharyl reminded the council that the Connections Conference is scheduled to be held at the NorrisConferenceCenter in Austin, Texas on June 8, 2009. Members are encouraged to apply to present. Keynote speakers were discussed.

  1. Articulation Agreements

Please review, update, or create new articulation agreements as appropriate and

return these to Sharyl asap.
