-School Improvement plan, no info yet, no data, after get results we can discuss plan for this year

  • Fris, what do you think about FSA scores and credibility? Murray – can’t answer as principal just yet. When state says its validated, that’s what it is. Coleman, will scores have an affect on A+ scores? Weighted? Murray- hasn’t said, we don’t know, year of transition …Coleman, going on kids records though, Murray- yes, but the weight is unknown even if there is a score. If its validated it will be used to place students……..

  • Pushing low price internet package, free and reduced lunch, provided with a single modem, not high speed etc. Advanced Cable carrying it out
  • Openings, business representative who cannot be employed by Broward County School Board, Parent Representatives for high school, recording secretary (minutes 6-9 commitment), ESOL rep and should have a student enrolled (not an employee)

  • JA Achievement trip, first week in January, first 3 days, JA World, need parents and volunteers
  • DC Trip, first year we don’t run it, haven’t met the minimum of sign ups, no 7th graders invited, still taking payments
  • Possible Band trip in NY with 7th and 8th graders could be hurting us.
  • If we don’t go this year, is it still an option next year? Yes

-Potanic

  • Not a lot of updates, will have meetings after SAC meetings, so nothing to report yet because no meetings yet
  • Anyone want her position?
  • Membership low, need to sell more membership cards, 35 staff
  • Ms.Bosworth sent out to the teachers all the things they’ve done
  • Webinar information will be emailed out

-Murray

  • Welcome back
  • Balancing class sizes, 1174 projected, 1169 was total current,
  • 7 buses, may be the norm
  • Mindful of no cross teaming, but can’t be helped to balance class sizes
  • FSA results maybe in October, don’t know how they’re being used for students or teachers yet, no learning gains (nothing to compare)
  • Carbowski, took a job in Palm Beach
  • Augustin, Pines Charter
  • Larosa and Smith are welcomed
  • Testing computerized and encourage kids to practice using and typing on them. May be all 6, 7, 8, wont know till it happens

  • Before and After care, 19 am, 21 pm.
  • Pamphlets? How do we get kids out early to go to before care. Can’t afford it…Scholarship spots depend on amount of kids. Maybe 30 kids on campus early and communicate with their parents. It will grow
  • Fris, Dunkin wants to build next to the school. Poor flow of traffic, they don’t want it. Foreclosure?

-Dollins, eCyberMission Grant awarded. 8 per student enrolled, teachers get a stipend for participating, STEM dates wants to do a presentation…November, not October
