Purpose / This unit standard is for people working in a sports turf context.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: plan a work programme for a sports turf facility; monitor staff performance in a sports turf facility; evaluate the success of the supervised work; and report on outcomes of supervised work.

1Performance criteria must be consistent with all relevant procedures, standards, and legislation (and their subsequent amendments) which include but are not limited to:
- Workplace procedures
- Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- Employment Relations Act 2015.
2Definition
Workplace procedures – the procedures and standards set by the client or employing organisation for staff motivation and direction, and work outcomes.
3Assessment
For assessment against outcomes 2 and 3, the monitoring of staff performance and feedback provided may be conducted in consultation with the trainee’s supervisor.
Evaluation of staff expectations of completed work may be assessed by written questionnaire.

Outcome 1
Plan a work programme for a sports turf facility.
Performance criteria
1.1Select a realistic time-scale of work in accordance withworkplace procedures.
1.2Match plant, labour, equipment, and consumable resources to the required work.
1.3Communicate work requirements to staff members in accordance with workplace procedures.
Outcome 2
Monitor staff performance in a sports turf facility in accordance with workplace procedures.
Performance criteria
2.1Organise workflow to achieve minimal waste and delay.
2.2Monitor staff performance in accordance with workplace procedures.
Rangeincludes but is not limited to –quality of work, timeliness.
2.3Provide feedback to staff on performance and achievement, and provide constructive suggestions and encouragement for improving future performance in terms of achieving work objectives.
Outcome 3
Evaluate the success of the supervised work in accordance with workplace procedures.
Performance criteria
3.1Evaluate success of supervised work in terms of meeting staff expectations for motivation and direction.
Rangemust include but is not limited to – leadership, staff motivation and morale, settling minor disputes, identification of areas for improvement.
3.2Evaluate success of supervised work in terms of meeting employer expectations for staff motivation and direction and work outcomes.

Outcome 4
Report on outcomes of supervised workin accordance with workplace procedures.
Performance criteria
4.1Develop a written report to address the extent to which operational goals and objectives have been achieved and makes recommendations regarding changes in processes and inputs.
4.2Present the report verbally consistent with the subject and the recipients’ needs.
