FDREL 200 – Family Foundations

The information disseminated and the learning activities conducted in this courseare intended to provide lasting valuefor you in your efforts to strengthen your marriage and family relationships. As a student in this course, youare expected to organize and prepare your Family Foundations binder in such away that it can serve as a lifelong resource of valuable information pertaining to marriage, family, and provident-living matters. You are also expected to study, ponder, and apply the contents of your binderin a way that reflects true diligence and sincere effort in learning the important truths and skills emphasized in this course. You may earn up to 50 points by:

  • obtaining a complete version of the Family Foundations Reading Packet and securing it in an official Family Foundations Binder;
  • sectioning yourassigned course readings to correspond with the core principles ofThe Family: A Proclamation to the World, as outlined in the following description of unit topics:

Unit 1 – The Eternal Nature of Truth: God’s Plan of Salvation and the Family

Unit 2 – Gender: An Essential Characteristic of Personal Identity and Purpose

Unit 3 – Gospel Ordinances and Covenants: The Eternal Marriage Covenant

Unit 4 – Procreation: The Lawof Chastity and the Sanctity of Life

Unit 5 – The Sacred Duty of Parents

Unit 6 – Happiness in Family Life

  • placing at the forefront of your binder a high-quality copy of The Family: A Proclamation to the World;
  • marking all of your assigned readings to show that you recognized, highlighted, and pondered key principles in preparation for class discussions;
  • preserving a copy of all of your large group meeting study guides and placing them in your binder to correspond with each unit;
  • preserving a copy of all of your preparation assessments and placing them in your binder to correspond with the assigned readings for each unit;
  • placing in your binder a copy of all case study scenarios and all of your case study responses to correspond with each unit;
  • placing in your binder a copy of all of your provident living plans and all of your provident living reports to correspond with each unit;
  • bringing your binder to class for final inspection during the designated final exam period on July 20th.
