A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Philip I. Huddleston.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Philip I. Huddleston, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Philip I. Huddleston was born on January 8, 1940, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and longtime resident of Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on July 5, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Philip I. Huddleston was the loving son of Frances Martin Huddleston Link and the late Paul R. Huddleston; he was the devoted husband of Margaret Ryan Huddleston, and he was the loving father of two daughters, Cameron King Huddleston Lebedinsky of Washington, D. C., and Robin Barte Huddleston of Memphis, Tennessee, and a step son, Ryan Wermeling of Bowling Green; he was the loving brother of a sister, Laura Snyder of Cary, North Carolina, and two loving brothers, Joseph R. Huddleston and Lee Huddleston, both of Bowling Green, and a loving sister, Mary Elizabeth Huddleston Rose, who preceded him in passing; and

WHEREAS, Philip I. Huddleston graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1958; he received his B.A. at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1962, and he graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Philip I. Huddleston was an active and involved citizen and an esteemed member of the Warren County community where he was engaged in the private practice of law and a senior partner at Huddleston and Huddleston in Bowling Green; he was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys, the Federal Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Bowling Green Bar Association, serving as its president in 1976; he was Assistant United States Attorney from 1966-1969 before entering the private practice of law, and he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for Western and Eastern Kentucky; he authored articles published in various legal publications, and he lectured before the Kentucky Bar Association, and the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys; and

WHEREAS, Philip I. Huddleston served on the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education, the Bowling Green Independent Schools Board of Education, Warren County Council for Literacy, and the Barren River Regional Crime Council; he was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, Arts Alliance, and the Rotary Club, and he was twice Commodore at the Port Oliver Yacht Club; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Philip I. Huddleston has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Philip I. Huddleston, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Philip I. Huddleston.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Margaret Ryan Huddleston, Judge, 1288 Hayes Court, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42103.
