AltRider’s Taste of Dakar 2014 –ITINERARY

(details are subject to change)

Friday, February 28th

2:30-6 PM – ARRIVAL: Meet at Wine Ridge RV Park and follow the signs to the registration table.

Registration closes at 6 PM.

-  Wine Ridge RV Resort is located on 3800 Winery Road, Pahrump, NV 89049. From Hwy 160, turn onto Winery Road and the resort is located 1 mile further on the left.

-  It’s REQUIRED to stop by the registration table to receive your welcome packets and sign your waivers with Nancy or Mitch. They will give you further instructions on set-up.

-  Claim your spots now and set up your camping area. Camping spaces are on gravel so please plan accordingly.

-  Remember to fill up your gas tank before your arrival! Rotopax and other gas cans are recommended.

-  We HIGHLY recommend having your GPS preloaded with the GPX files - these will not be available until a week before the event. We will send you another email.

-  Don’t forget to upload your pictures for the Taste of Dakar Photo Contest onto the AltRider Facebook page as you go OR hand Erik your camera’s/SD cards at dinner on Saturday night. Don’t miss out on your chance to win a set of Kenda Big Block Tires for your ADV bike!

6:45 PM –DINNER: Enjoy some beef fajitas and enchiladas at the Dining Hall provided by ICON.

-  Please email Nancy at if you have any dietary restrictions.

Please do not forget to wear your nametags to dinner!

7:45 PM – FRIDAY RIDERS MEETING: AltRider President Jeremy and Dakar star Jimmy Lewis will walk you through what to expect for the next day’s ride.

Designate your groups according to skill level and group leaders. We will have sign up sheets for each level of riding (scenic, intermediate, advanced) and you can sign up accordingly with groups of people or individually. 1 GPS device is needed per group.

8:45 PM –CAMPFIRE BY MOTORCYCLE USA’s DAKAR BAR: Gather by the campfire with a beer in hand.

Saturday, March 1st

7:15 AM –BREAKFAST: Grab a cup of Joe and fuel yourselves with some breakfasts provided by Motoquest


8:15 AM –MANDATORY RIDERS MEETING: We’ll advise you through the routes and have a brief riding clinic with Jeremy.

-  The Saturday day ride will take place via self-led GPS routes in groups of 4-6 riders. Get to know the names of your group members and don’t forget how many people are in your group! You will receive nametags to put on your gear, please don’t forget to wear them!

8:45 AM –ADVENTURE RIDE: Gear up and start staggering rides out to your awesome desert adventure. With your group, you need to run through tech inspections with Erik before heading out. Erik will help the flow of groups leaving based on inspection times.

-  Groups should be split up depending on skill level. These are self-led suggested routes, created for each skill level. Please ride within your own skill level!

-  This day’s ride will be around 100-150 miles depending on your skill level. Please remember to take gas stops when needed and have extra fuel cells (such as the RotopaX fuel packs) on hand.

9:15 AM – Side Stands up! Last staggered group out for the 1st ride of the day.

-  *Take gas stops when available – There is only 1 gas station off the free way exit to the lunch spot, Pioneer Saloon. We will have some fuel drums and will sell it to guys who are short. Fuel will be limited as we can only bring so much so try to have your own.


12:30-1:15 PM – LUNCH: Stop for burgers at Pioneer Saloon provided by Freedom Cycles (Triumph Las Vegas).

-  Don’t worry if you are not on time, have fun and we’ll be here until 1:15 pm serving lunch.

1:30 – 1:45 PM –MORE ADV RIDING: Leave for the 2nd half of your killer adventure ride

-  Prepare any riding questions that you may have thought of during your first half of riding and ask Jeremy or Jimmy Lewis.

1:45 PM –Last riders out for 2nd half of day ride.

4:30-5:30 PM – Last riders arrives at campsite.

-  Take this time to squeeze in a refreshing shower. There are separate men’s and women’s showers.

7 PM –SPECIAL DINNER: Get ready for a delicious dinner of fried turkey AND brisket provided by RoxSpeedFX.

7:30 PM –PRESENTATIONS AND PRIZE GIVEAWAYS: Get excited for a presentation by Chris Blais.

9:00 PM –CAMPFIRE BY MOTORCYCLE USA’S DAKAR BAR: Kick back with a beer by the campfire and mingle with all your new friends and loads of new stories from your killer day of riding.

Sunday, February 24th
7:15 AM –BREAKFAST: Fill up with a breakfast for your journey home sponsored by Motoquest

8AM -10:30 AM –ADV ROUTE HOME: Your adventure doesn’t stop here! Pack up your campsite and pick your riding buddies for the final ride out.

From Southbound I-15 coming into Las Vegas: TakeS Hwy 160-West. From S Hwy 160, turn right on Winery Road. The resort is located 1 mile on the left.

From Northbound I-93/95 coming into Las Vegas: Take the 95-West tothe 215-West to the 15-South to the S Hwy 160-West. From S Hwy 160, turn right on Winery Road. The resort is located 1 mile on the left.

From Northbound I-15 coming into Las Vegas: Takethe second Baker exit onto Hwy 127 to Shoshone. At Shoshone, turn right onto Hwy 178 (becomes Hwy 372 at Nevada state line). In Pahrump at first stoplight, turn right, proceed to next stoplight (Winery Rd) and turn left. The resort is located 1 mile on the left.

From Southbound I-95 coming from northern Nevada: TakeS Hwy 160-East to Pahrump. From S Hwy 160, turnleft on Winery Road. The resort is located 1 mile on the left.
