Air King Brings The Fresh Air In for Better Indoor Air Quality
West Chester, PA – June, 2016 – Air King, a leading manufacturer of ventilation products, announced the addition of the QFAM fresh air machine to its line of ventilation and indoor air quality products.
The QFAM provides a cost effective mechanical solution that helps with humidity and temperature for tight construction homes needing fresh air. Air King president, Jeff Kenkelen says, “Builders and contractors now have a practical offering for introducing fresh air into the residence, meeting the fresh air CFM requirements. As construction of new homes becomes tighter, the need for fresh air is paramount. Until now, that meant either very costly and hard to install HRV or ERV systems or less than optimal damper systems.”
What sets the QFAM apart form other fresh air solutions is how the air is handled. The compact unit (just slightly larger than typical exhaust fans) can be surface mounted anywhere within the home such as laundry rooms, mechanical rooms, basements and so on. The unit draws air in through an air filter and can be directed through ducting to and optimal location in the home. It does not need to be tied into the HVAC system of the home. Many current systems must be tied into the furnace of the home, putting extra stress on the furnace. The electronic controls of the QFAM allow it to be set for humidity and temperature ranges that will shut the unit off if the air coming in is not within those preset tolerances. A heating unit can be added to the unit is areas of the country where the temperature of the air coming into the homes is cooler than desired. The unit also features a multiple speed motor that allow the unit to be set for the exact CFM (cubic feet per minute) requirements of the home allowing the unit to be used to meet national codes such as ASHREA 62.2.
