Alberta Provincial League – June 17-18 at Dawson Creek

The Dawson Creek Halo D-Backs successfully hosted their first round-robin tourney of the competitive season and provided local baseball fans with plenty of excitement at KinPark. Playing against northern Alberta’s best AA peewee squads, the Halo D-Backs lost a heartbreaker in their opener against Camrose, then earned gutsy, hard-fought wins in their final two games vs. Vegreville and St. Albert.

With the exception of two innings, the D-Back’s used stellar defence, led by pitchers Dylan Remenyk, Jason Ginter, Anders Carlstad and Tyler Akeroyd, to basically shut down their opponents all weekend. Offensively, the D-Backs were led by Blair Walsh with five hits, followed closely by Ginter, Akeroyd and David Readman with 3 each.
