2000:Received funding from the Nuffield Foundation in England to visit education institutions in England during April 2000 as part of the Primary History Project which was a collaboration between Leeds Metropolitan University (UK), University of Cape Town and the Western Cape Education Department.

2000: Received from United States Agency for International Development and the Exchange Support Fund of the Gore-Mbeki Bi-national Commission to participate inter alia in the AMS/NOAA/NSF workshop, entitled Project ATMOSPHERE: Sensing, Analysing, and Forecasting, held at the NationalWeatherServiceTrainingCenter in Kansas City, Missouri, in July/August 2000.

  • Served on the school governing bodies of CherèBothaSchool (Bellville) for learners with Down’s Syndrome and VeraSchool (Rondebosch East) for learners suffering from Autism.
  • Consultant to the Social Sciences team (Geography) responsible for the streamlining and strengthening process of Curriculum 2005 (C2005) which led to the Revised National Curriculum Statement (grades R to 9)
  • Co-ordinator and leader of the team responsible for the development of the National Curriculum Statement for Geography for FET Schools.
  • Member of the writing team responsible for drafting Assessment Guidelines for Geography as part of the National Curriculum Statement.
